SINGER SEVftNCT MACHINES. New York State Fair.

The State Fair just closed (at Buffalo) was an tniexnnipled eucceis in nearly overy department. The interest which usually centers upon sewing machines was not wanting. It was intensified, doubtless, by the angry (and not altogether reputable) dispute which has arisen over thn "medals" said to have been awarded at the Paris Exposition. But theso medals countod for nothing here, for the judpes insisted upon a thorougn exnmination for themselves of tho several machines in competition, and the result was a unanimous report awarding the highe?t prize to ilie exhibitors of the "Singer" for the best family sewing machine also for the beat manufacturing machine, an also for tho best butf.on-hole machine.

clean sweep and a righteous judgement say thoso who are best informed. It was suggested by many who saw the magnilcent display made of these machines, find the variety and admirable quality of the work they performed, that the manufacturers were remits in not sending them to the Paris Exposition, and thus have obviated the bitter controversy being carricd on ovc the gold medal. But the Singer Manufaeturi ng Company, whose sales of machines for the pa^t year have txecedcil forty-throo thousand (soine thousands more than any other company in^ the world) care more for the "people's rerdint.,'- ws apprehend, than for ft 11 the gold "[nulla,!.- that were or could have been awarded at Pari.'. The Exhibition at Buffnffi, to which v. h.y.ve alitidcd, was made by .the fitter].risine agents of the ciinger machines* Uliea.—-C/'ficj Jj'.rity Ihr^ld, Oct. 9.
