Porhaps 1 am extending mj- rumni^ka upon general topics further than ought, but I want to saj' a few. words In regard to political parties. I want to say, first and foremost,, in regard to this party calling itself Democratic, thai is not entitled to Iho confidence of the public in any respect. It is thoroughly tuinted and saturated with the virus of this rebellion. It broke the national faith in 1854 by the repeal of tho Missouri Compromise. It took steps in advance, throughout tho administration of Mr. Buchanan, for tho purpose of bringing on this rebellion. Mr. Buchanan and his party supporters in Congress, in tho winter ol 3SOI, proclaimed to.tho woild that there was no power to coerce a State no power to suppress the rebellion. They declared that these States might proceed without molestation in the work of disintegration and destruction of '.he nation. This Democratic part}7 encouraged tho rebellion by assuring rebels in tho South that there would be no resistance ottered

July, 1SG4, that party thero proclaimed, in its National Convention, that the war was a failure, and called upon ^tho Government and tho nation to ^abandon it. ask if such an organisation as this is entitled now to receive public confidence? They may now attempt to change their professions, as they havo in New York. /They mado haste there to throw oft' the gray back, and put on the national uniform. They did the same thing in
Maine but the peoplo very wisely showed their distrust of them by addling six thousand to tho Union major ity. [Applause.]
Three Suns Arise in the licnvcuM At the Same Time. A gentleman who arivod in this city "yesterday from Leo County informs
US that the peoplo of that section wore thrown into great panic and paralysis a few mornings ago by tho wonderful spectacle of three suns rising at the same time. The central orb was encircled by a beautiful rainbow and surmounted by another iris which extended on either hand above tho attendant suns. Tho two surplus suns %vero, of course, but reflection-! of the bona fido sun on the clouds, and after a brief space these suddenly dissolved and vanished, leaving tho real Sol 60lum. But the people of tho c-ountiy, •who had never heard of so strange a phenomenon, were satisfied that the world was on the crumbling vergo of extinction, and that tho hog businosa, in which they are so largely interested, was. about to experience a thorough ynnd final prostration. The spectacle is

to have been sublime and fplendid bej'ond description, and inspired admiration even in tho breasts of those who regarded it as the portent of awtul supernatural devclopcinonts.—

A country schoolmaster, preparing for an exhibition of his school, selected a class of pupils and wroto down the ouestions which ho would put to theni on examination day. Tho day Arrived, and so did iho hopefuls, all but one. The pupils took their places as had been arranged, and all went on glibly until the question ot the absentee camo, when the teacher asked -.'In whom do you peltuvo?1 In Na-| -poleon Bonaparte 1" was the answer quickly returned.
