Startirfg from his lethargy "Kair stupefied by the opium, the'' son drew a pistol from under his pillow, and fired twice at his mother, under tho belief that she wan'a burglar. One of the balls divided the cartoid artery, and tho unfortunate lad}' sooirf"^ bled to death. She exclaimed: "Soii, son, you did not-mean it.- God bless you." Crazed by the deed tho unhappy.' son rushed out of tho houso, and has not been heard of since.
