TIME, PLACE AND OCCASION!

Tho shades of night were falling fast, As through a Western City passed A youth, who bore, 'mid snow and ice, A banner with this strange device:

"GOOD NEWS'!'5'

The news was that L. A. FOOTE .t CO. had just received a largo lot of New 'roods, making their stock fuller and more complete than it had ever been, and the best, stock in their line ever in the city of C'rawfordsviHe.

lie passed where hangs the sign o'er head "No farthor go," a young man said, "You'll find no better far or wide"— And loud that saxo-horn voice replied

"GOOD NEWS!"

For the information of (he public, wo would say that the sign referred to is that of the "CHUNK N Boo:: JJTOBK," (you can see it from either Green or Vernon streets.) and the young man who stepped the traveler was John K. Robinson, Jr., ho lias been in the establishment a year, and being well posted in the business, knew what ho was talking about when bo told tho gentleman with the banner to stop, if you doubt, call and ask him.

And now ho stands within the door, Where goods are found from wall to floor And with a smile an 1 wink of eyo, lie says in acccnts clear and high,

"J SEE NEW GOODS I'-

He snw 731'.ios, Testament :, iVayor Books and Hymn liooks lor all denomination-'. Alburns, Histories, Novels. Music Rooks, a great stools of miscellaneous Books, ail the School iiouks in use in common Schools, Coliegc Text Rooks. Lllarik and Memorandum Uooks, Pictures, all sorts, kind and sizes, Picturo Frames, Mol'lin^s, Paper of every siv.e and kin.1, Vv'ull n:d Window Pap'-r, Window bhades, (lords, Tassels. Envelopes, Slates, Pencils, Ink. Pens, Toys in great variety, and Notions of all kinds. In fact, if you were to pak him ho would not be able to enumerate the half that lie did sec, Nor did he forget to inquire tho prices, which, being lower than he had anticipated. and finding many things ho wanted he bought quite a large quantity, which led to the following results

At break of day, towards the brook, llis way a thirsty farmer took He hoard a voice of wild despair Ring clearly through the morning air—

"NEW GOODS!''

The farmer was astonished f^r he could see nu one. and so he brought out. his dogs for a hunt and had the mystery explained as follows:

A traveler, by tho faithful hound, k'x.ji All buried in Now Goods was found: Still in his hands, as in a vico, The bannor with that strange device:

"GOOD NEWS!"

The fact is that ho had got. too many articles (or his money and was not able to "tote thein home, and so got into the above unfortunate predicament.

I fear the youth who bravely boro The Excelsior (lag in days of yore,

AOi.1 O Yt ii I plication of the Directors of the Lyo Creek PraiLatest btvles U& iraLLerilS

The "Corner 1look Store" had not found Or he might now be singing round—

"GOOD NEWS!"

The reason we have for that belief is, that if he had found tho "(,'ornrr" ho would have bought so many ent ertaining Hooks that he would never have undertaken that journey, but have stayed at home and made'a quiet citizen.

Our hero lives, and lives this day. If you'd like to know I'll toll you tho way llis mind was tull and bis heart was warm, And he was only singing amid the storm,

"GOOD NEWS!"

He was rescued from his perilous condition, went on his way rejuieing and gladdened hi family and friend with a bountiful supply of Books, Stationery, Toys, Notions, Ac., which ho had bought at the piaee where you get cheap goods and the right ehango back.

And now with goods in his arms and hands, Good? on his back, in goods ho stands— And costing but a very few tips— The well known sound comes from his lips,

"GOOD NEWS!"

It may be said that the youth above mentionod was employed to blow for FOOTE .t CO., but you can be convinced of your mistake if you will call and sec the best assorted and most complete stock of goods in our line ever brought to tho city, and at prices to suit the times.

The youth forgot to say that we kocp a QI:N*ERAI. NEWS DEPOT, where you can find a full supply of MAGAZINES and LITERARY PAPERS.

Also have for sale the Wikor. if' Gibba Scicing Muchinc," which wo invito you to call and see. Any goods not on hands promptly ordered.

Thankful for past favors wo would rcspeotfully ask you ALL to call. mar22'tif).] L. A. FOOTE fc CO.

WHch is the basis of the bitters now offered to the public. That honor belongs to tho native inhabitants of Central ameriea, to whom its virtues have been known for more than two hundrod years. Armed with it the Indian bids deiia.n?e to the most deadly malaria, and handles, without fear, the most venomous serpent. It is a beliof with them, that while there is breath left in the body, the Cedron is potent to cure, no matter what tha disease may be,

A series of experiments in which Dr. Bull haa been for years engaged, has just been brought to a successful termination, nnd he is now enabled to offer to tho public a combination of CEDRON with other approved tonics tho wholo preserved ia tqe best quality of copper distilled Bourbon whisky, which ho is confident has no equal in thj world.

He might furnish avolurao of certificates, but tha public has long since learned to estimate such things at their true value. The safest plan is, for every ono to test for himself tho virtues of new mediciue.
