NEW HOMEOPATHIC REMEDY
FOE SUFFERING FEMALES.
DR. 5IARRISOST JOHNSTON'S
Homoeopathic
Female Regulating Powders A SUIvE AND SAFE MEDICINE,
Having been proved by a Three Years'
Test in Private Practice.
After alife of careful study as a practitioner of _„tlie Old nnd New School Systems, to obtain a sure ,:and safe modicinc for females suffering from Irregilarities, ko., I cau say with certainty that 1113- exertions have been crowned with success, having "found from timo to time, through the knowledge
Bof
Homoeopathy, substances which I compounded ^iwith much care, and can now place before the pubJic in IIOMI:OIIATHIC POWDERS, lis tho only true. and reliable wcdiciuc that will produce MONTHLY SICK^NESS in all stages and circumstancex they having been tested since January, 1859, (a period of over
Three Years) in my private practice on ladies of different temperaments, and so far have never failed to produce the desired effect without the slightest. injury to health, if taken according to direc-
jtions. A great many porsons in this and other conntries have no faith whatever in the new school of Homoeopathy, from the simple fact that they have 'nover been troated with it carefully or, if treated at all, improperly. Now, AS I AM A GRADUATE OF
SYSTKJIS IV THE FinST COLLEGES OK EVK0PK ("The Royal College of Surgery and Medicine," London, and "The Ilonmoputhic Institute of Great _BritainLondon—tho former classed Allopathy,
Old School, and the latter as Ilonuropatby, New School,) and as I have practised both for a period of Forty-one Years, I think I am entitled to a judgment in this matter.
After attending one courso of lectures on the Homoeopathic doctrinc (merely for experiment,) I was induced, by its astonishing weight upon my mind, to attend tho remaining courses. I then gave up the Old School system altogether, and have now for the last THIRTEEN YEARS practised Homoeopathy, finding it the most proper mode of treatment. Besides, the fact that the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT intends the introduction of the method in its Army and Navy should alono convince all of the sovereignty of this manner of treatment.
A simple trial of my Powders will convineo nonbelievers of their great virtue, their good effects showing or rather proving their worth.
These Powders are put up in four different boxes accompanied with full and explicit directions, and are warranted a SURE REMEDY (causing immediate action) when taken strictly according to directions.
No. 1 will remove all obstructions, and cause a safe and regular return of Monthly Sickness.
No. 2 will euro Prolapsus Uteri (falling of the womb,) and all inflammatory and ulcerated diseases of the womb.
No. 3 will cure Leueoi-rhcea (Whites) and Incidental Flooding. No. 4 will euro diseases attendant on adranned stages of life (change of life.) Caution is given not to use my No. 1 Powders in 'cases of Pregnancy, as they arc sure to produce miscarriage. Those whoso health will not permit ftii increase of family will find these Powders a valuable preventative.
Price of boxes, (containing Twelve Powders,) $1 00, sent by mail or express to any address, accompanicd with directions and advico which will be found very useful in the future. Those suffering from Spinal and other affections will, by forwarding awritten statement, fully describing their different ailments, be treated with care, and a cure can be relied upon xcithas much certainty as if the patient were under my immediate charge.
Consultation fee, either in person or by letter, $1 00. Personal visits for consultation, unless urgent, must be made between the hours of 'J and 11 a. ui. and 2}4 and 33-4 p. m. at my Medical Rooms.
All communications, which are held as sacredly confidential, must be written plainly, especially names, post-offices and count its.

Singer-s Letter Jflachine,
the best Macliino in tho world for Family Sewand Light Manufacturing Purposes. Price, [with Hemmcr, and beautifully ornamented,] $50.
We would ask for our Lettor A Machines, the spceial attention of Vest Makers and Dress Makers, and all those who want Machines for light manufacturing purposes. They embody tho principles of the Manufacturing Machines, making, like them, the interlocked stitch, and are destined to be as celebrated for FAMILY SKWINO and light manufacturing purposes as our Manufacturing Machines are for manufacturing purposes in general.
FAMILY SEWING MACHINES arc valuable in proportion to the number of things thoycan do well. See what ours can do before making a purchase.
doubt as to the value of our Ma
chines for manufacturing purposes, but it is only of lato that the public began to learn that the essential elements of a machine best adapted to the heaviest work, would also be the elements to be embodied in a Family Machinc. It is now well understood that our Letter A Machine is the only Family Machinc yet offered to the public which has simplicity, rapidity, durability, and certainty of correct action. While as a general thing, tho sewing-ma-eliine people aro candid enough to acknowledge that our machines arc unequalled for manufacturing purposes, they arc almost sure to assert, in the same breath, that Singer's Lettor A, or Family Machines, are not as good as theirs! This is a mere trick of the trade, and we confidently invite those interested in the ^ubjcctto examine for themselves and see what our "Letter A Family Machines, with all the recent improvements, arc capable of doing. While they will sew the most dclicatc material to perfection, as already stated, they are also adapted to light manufacturing purposes, and this, be it remembered, cannot be said of any of the other Family Machines yet offered to the public.
The Nos. 1 and 2 Machines aro of great capacity and application for manufacturing purposes. Our No. 3 Machines are especially adapted to all kinds of light and heavy Leather Work, in Carriage Trimming, Boot and Shoe Making, Harness Making, etc., etc. They are of extra size, with an arm long enough to take under it and stitch the largest, sized dashes. There is scarcely any part of a Trimmer's stitching that cannot bo better done with them than by hand so, too, the saving of time and laboris very great,. The table of these machines is 24 inehes long, and tlieshuttlc will hold six times as much thread as the shuttlo of those used for tailoring purposes. The largo machines work as fast as small ones.
We have always on hand, Hemming Gungcs, Silk Twist, I.inen and Cotton Thread on Spools, best Machine Oil in Bottles, etc., etc.
We manufacture our own Needles, and would warn all persons using our machines not to buy any others. Wc know that thero arc ueedles sold of the most inferior qualify, at higher prices than we charge for the host. The needles sold by us are manufactured especially for our machines. A bad needle may render the working of the best machino almost useless.
Our customers may rest assured that all our Branch Offices arc furnished with the "genuine article."
In case of small purchases, the money may be sent, in postage stamps, or bank notes. ^^..Correspondents will please write their names distinctly. It is all important that wc should, in each ease, know tho Post Office, County and State. ^S.rg,.Ali persons requiring information about Sewing Machines, their sizes, priccs, working capacities, and the best methods of purchasing, can obtain it by sending to us, or any of our Branch Offices for a copy of
"I. 31. Singer & Co.'s Gazette." Which is a beautiful Pictorial Paper entirely devoted to the subject.—It will be sent yratis.
We have made the above REDUCTION IN PRICES with the two-fold view of benefiting the public and ourselves. The public have been swindled by spurious machines rnado in imitation of ours. The metal in them, from tho iron casting to the Rinnllcst
picco,
is
of poor
crs have not the means to do their work well.— They are hid away in secret places, where it would he impossible to have at their command the proper mechanical appliances. It is only by doing a great business, and having extensive manufacturing establishments, that good machines can be made at moderate prices. Thcbestdesignedmaehines, HAPLY MADE, are always liable to get out of order, and arc sure to cost considerable trouble and money to keep them in repair.
The qualities to be looked for in a aehinc, are: certainty of correct action at all rates of speed, simplicity of construction, great durability, and rapidity of operation, with the least labor. Much ines to combine these essential qualities, must be made of the best metal and finished to perfection. We have the ways and means, on a grand scale, to do this.
The purchasers of Machines, whose daily bread it may conccrn, will find that those having the abovequalities not only work well at rapid as well as slow rates of speed, but last long in tho finest possible working order. Our machines, as made by us, will earn more money with less labor than any others, whether in imitation of ours or not. In fact, they are cheaper than any other Machines as a gift jJTJQyLocal agents wanted.

THIS
Machine is constructed on an entirely new principle of mechanism, possessing many rare and valuable improvements, having been examined by the most profound experts, and pronounced to be SIMPLICITY and PERFECTION COMBINED.
IUl
The following are the principal objections urged against Sewing Machines:— 1—Excessive fatigue to the operator. 2—Liability to get out of order. 3—Expense, trouble and loss of time in repairing.
1
4—Incapacity to sew every description of material. 5—Disagreeable noise while in operation.
Tlie Empire Sewing Machine Is exempt from all tliese Objections. It has a straight needle, perpendicular action, makes the LOCK or SHUTTLE STITCH, which wil NEITHER RIP nor RAVEL, and is alike on both sides performs perfect sewing on every description of material, from Leather to the finest Nansook Muslin, with cotton, linen or silk thread, from the coarsest to the finest number.
Having neither CAM nor COG WHEEL, and the least possible friction, it runs as smooth as glass, and is
EMPHATICALLY A NOISELESS MACHINE!
