WEEK'Y -GAZETTE
For 1S61.
The great Presidential battle having now closed with the triumph of the Republicans in the election of L1XOOLX and HAMLIN', a new era will soon he inaugurated in tlie policy of our Government, and its energies be wielded, within the recognize 1 limits of the Constitution, in favor of Freedom, and not of Slavery.
Consequences of immediate and extraordinary magnitude hang upon this event. The revolution in our l'ublie Affairs of which it .is the precursor, has amused a storm of fanaticism in the Cotton States which bids fair to test the Union, the Constitution, aod ihe Laws, to an extent to which they have never before been subjected.
The question of peaceful or rc-vnlutionnry Secession. .Vunification, and Retaliatory Legislation, have now arisen, involving numerous others touching the theory of onr Institutions, State and Federal relations, and possibly the demand on the part of the extreme South for new Concessions and Guarantees as a condition of the continuance of the Federal Union. As Ihe pi'ojcct of a Southern Cotton Confederscy assames shape, that of reopening the African Slave Trade also roars it? h:l-«.:.- head. We are at the turning point in the gretit .conflict between Freedom and Slavery.
Amid the upheaving of the political and social Clements at home, a crisis seems to he impending over Europe, and (he probabilities daily becoming more imminent of a collision between the Great Powers, which may shake the iLvr.aslies of the old world to their foundations. Everywhere the force? of humanity are in motion, and Truth and Kight are baitlingagahita Frrorand Wrony in.their multiform shapes.
Tlu-signs of thetimes, therefore, indicate a year of startling eh.-lnges and great events, and he who would keep pace with ihe spirit and intelligence of tlie age, must UK AD. An enterprising newspaper is an epitome of this living world, and brings it. with all its ever-Varying phase.?, bofore the mind's eye of the poor man in his cottage as well as the rich man in his palace. It is tho cheapest article of necessity or luxury that the ingc-nuiiy of man has yet devi-cd, and he who ignores it- buries his noblest capacities' and is practically dead to the interests and concerns of his race, outside of the narrow sphere in which he moves.
Such an one wo ,-hail continue to strive to make the GAZHTTK, and to render it, for the coming year, worthy of still more general favor. The pressure of that class of political matter specially appertaining tQ the Campaign being now over, we shall be able to give a much larger quantity of literary and miscellaneous reading, for the benefit of those who feel comparatively little concern in politics. "VVe bestow greul pains upon the making up of tho Gazette, and believe we can safely say that variety, freshness and interest, it will cot MI tier by coinpnrisun with any Eastern paper, while an 'mportant advantage in point of time, by its earlier arrival, is gained to \Vestern subscribers. Our Printing and Mailing are also now done with such dispatch as to enable us to have our entire edition in the mail by 12 o'clock on the morning of publication, and subscribers will thus invariably receive them by ihe first mails thereafter. The extra amount of reading matter which the Gazette furnishes its readers, in consequenc-o of its large size, should not be overlooked by those who want the news of the day complete, and not in a partial and imperfect shape.

Scandinavian Remedies.
When Dr..
ROBACK,
the celebrated Swedish Phy
sician, introduced his J31ood Purifier and Blood Pills in the United States, he set forth in plain language their curative properties. This was years ago. The task of recommending them has since been taken out of his bamlx. Enlightened men whose.diameter lor sound judgment and philosophy, gives their opinions weight in the community, men, who observe, reflect, nnd make "assuranco doubly sure" before they decide—are everywhere approving and urging the use of these wonderful preparations. All who confide in the wisdom and honesty of this class, or who chose to investigate for themselves are now of one mind on this important subject.
Dr. llobaek invites the attention of tho sick to tile ORIGINAL LETTER?, from members of the Medical Profession, Editor* of public journals, well kuown Merchants and Fanners, and Ladies of the highest respectability, giving accounts of extraordinary cures wrought by the remedies, of which eui-es they themselves wero
EYE WITNESSES.
These parties may be consulted personally or by letter, by those who have any doubt upon .the subject. The evidence in the possession of Dr. Ro-
back, which is at all times accessible to the public, establishing the following FACTS: That tho Blood Purifier and Blood Pills hare bee* proved by analysis to
CONTAIN NO MINERAL,
That they cure the almost universal complaint, DYSPEPSIA, with uiirrri.n certainly, and in a very short timo. That after all other medicines have proved useless, they relieve
LIYF.R COMPLAINT,
and restore the health andstren gth to the sufferer'. That SICK FEMALES, who have languished for years in helpless weakness and despondency, recuperate with great rapidity under their invigorating operation. That all sexual disabilities are removed by their cordial and gentle stimulating properties. That they recruit
S11A E RE CONSTITUTIONS, however they may have been trifled with and abused that their direct tendency is fo lengthen life, and render it enjoyable. That operating directly upon the i/oiion nf the diucase in the blood they •v."' CAUSE SOON TO IIEAL, and discharge from the system, c-verj- taint of Scrofula, whether hereditary or otherwise. That they
RECRUIT THE DEBILITATED,
and that there is no disease of the Stomach and Bowels, the Liver the Nervous System, the Skin, Glands or Muscles, ARISING FROM IMPURITIES OR OB^TRUC-
TIONS OF THE BLOOD OR SECRETIONS, i' in which they do not give prompt rr.Urf, and, (if administered before the very citadel of life has been invaded.) cjj'tct pmnhx-i umi perfect aire.
Bear in mind thai the SCANDINAVIAN VEGETABLE RLOOD PILLS are endorsed by the experience of thousands of living witnesses, who, in letterf. affidavits, medical works and by word of" mouth, proclaim them tv lie the very best preparation of the kind ever offered to the broken down victims of ill health. They hunt disease through every avenue and organ of the system, and expel, it thoroughly and permanently.
No one can doubt their superiority after one single trial—they are not only better but in fact, ehcupcr than any other Pills, for it takes a less number of them to produce abetter effcet.
Price of the Scandinavian Vegetable Blood Puri Her, Si per bottle, or 65 per half dozen. Of the Scandinavian Vegetable Blood Piils, 25 cents per box. or 5 boxes for 51.
