VALUABLE BOOK.

Justices, Lawyers and Business Men.

MCDONALD'S-TREATISE:

A Treatise on the Law relating to the Powers and Duties of JUSTICES OF THE PEACE, and Constables, in the State of Indiana, with practical Forms and Essays on various Titles of the Common Law,

BY DAVID McDONALD.

All classes of Officers of Law, will find this work a convenient, complete and accurate guide in he or an of he a us of a ties to the profession generally, it will prove valuable and useful, and reference to the book will show that to business men, it is a copious fountain of important and valuable information.

The volume embraces everything relating to trials before Justices, with the Law of Evidence, Contracts, Partnerships Attachments, Leins, Promissory Notes, and other subjects, interesting to every man of business.

It is a carefully arranged and well made Book, and is just whi.t the profession needed.—Indiana Sentinel.

In our opinion, its general use by Justices of the Peace will tend materially to diminish litigation, obviate the frequency of appeals to higher Courts, and further the juster administration of the judicial powers vested in those Offices.

WALTER MARSH. J. W. GORDON. SOLOMON CLAYFOOL. A. A. HAMMOND.

I think it, for the purposes intended, a valuable and useful work, and one that should be in the hands of every Justice of the Peace in the State, to whom it seems to me, the book, or a similar one, is indispensable.

Jos. SULLIVAN.

The work will be especially valuable to those fer whom it was particularly designed and besides there are subjects relating to the general practice treated of, which will also render it highly valuable to the profession generally: to whom I cheerfully recommend it.

S. B. GOOKINS, Judge Sup. Court.

TRICE—Single Copies, pre-paid, $4,50 Five Copies, to one address, will be sent for $20.00, or Ten Copies for $36,00.

The attached noticesfrom a'few 6f the many, will show how the work is received abroad. Price $2, in one volume complete, 640 octavo pages.

R. DOBBINS, Book Seller, Greencastle Ind.

"We have a noble volume of 640 large octavo pages, full of facts well stated, Of the incidents uappily related, and sketches, portraitures and historic reminiscens.es,.delimated with a master's hand. We heartily wish the work, as we are sure it deserves, an extensive circulation."— Western Christian Advocated "The book is neatly printed, with a fine steel engraved likeness of the" author. Mr. Smith writes with ease and bea.uty. His discriptions and sketches are natural and life like. We thftnk him, as.a religioua journal.-fov the high, moral and religious tone, which "lie hafe given to his interesting sketches."—Baptist Witness, Indianapolis. "Books of this class are eminently valuable in a historical point of view. They are the observations of a cotemporary—the notes ot an intelligent, active man in life, which are infinitely more important than all the reasonings, collections, and deductions of the professioual historian. The volume is very readable, abounding in anecdotes, and personal reminiscence of Courts, judges, juries, civillians, poets and artists, of all kinds. The author has sound sense, andgood judgment, with a skillful pen."—Harpers Jy"This book is rich in biography, anccdotesand localisms. The work is so fragmentary in its character, that one paragraph in no way describes it. We simply commend it to our readers, as one of uncommon interest and originality."— Home Journal.
