THURSDAY. JUNE 12.
LADOGA.—We
good
had th« pleasure, on Fri
day last, in connection with our friends Thos. 0. Osborn and Jerry Keeney, of attending a Republican meeting at the beautiful and pleasant village of Ladoga. It was our first visit to that place, and we must say that our heretofore good opinions of the people of Ladoga were more than realized by that one day's social inter-
once made the recipient of all the elements
Ladoga is truly a pleasant place, and when WB take into consideration the intelligence and morality of her citizens, together with the fact that she has one of the best arranged and most ably conducted Female Seminaries in the State, we cannot feel otherwise than favorably impressed with, and somewhat partial toward that village. Another redeeming quality about Ladoga itt, that she is strongly Republican in principle, and stands firm in the advocacy of everything vhich has for its object the promulgation of thegrat cause of light and liberty.
In the afternoon our worthy friend Mr. Osborn, delivered an able and eloquent (.peeeh to a large and attentive audience which had assembled in the grove immediately west of the Seminary. Mr. Stringfield, of Greem-astle, also made an able speech. The right feeling prevails in old Clarke, and we predict a large majority in luvor of Freedom, and against the Old Line Border Ruffian party at the coming election.
Carovs vs. Limericks.
Our qui«t town was on ..atuir.ay wgnt,
the scene of a most disgraceful "Irish Riot,' in which shot-guns, stones, brickbats and the National arm of Ireland, the "sprig of thillalah," were brought into requisition, and from the quantum of black eyes, bloody noses, and broken heads seen about town, we would be led to believe their implacable enemy, "Sam" had been resurrected, and the orators who preached his funeral oration last fall would again have an opportunity"^ disgorging their venom.— Had the scenes of Saturday night been transacted last fall, would not the Know Nothings been to blame in the estimation of some of the pleaders for "Law and Order Tell us, you howling demagogues, when the Know Nothings showed as implacable hatred to the Iiioh as they are now showing to each other Were thev ever

the other evening. Our interpretation found it to contain a world of meaning—a liappy blending of those deep fountains which ever flow from the hearts of the good and virtuous, and which can only find utterance through those fair emblems of the soul's emotions—Flowers. Accept our thanks, with the assurance that a knowledge of the fair hand that scut it, :s only necessary to render our joy complete.
BRUTAL ASSAULT.—As a "lop-eared Dutchman," (we give the name as we heard it from a hater of "Midnight Assassins,") was returning to Sampson Houston's from town on Saturday night, between 10 fe 11 o'clock, he was struck on the head with a club by some one who had secreted himself for the purpose. The man was found by Mr. Houston, and so much was he injured that he was unable to speak to abont noon on Sunday. Some papers found at the place of attack lead to the arrest of James Sidner, who was recognised in the sum of $1000 to answer to the charge of assault and battery with intent to kill.

FEVER AND AGUE—AN INFALLIBLE CURE.—We defy the world to produce any medicine which does not contain Quinine, Bark, Arsenic, Mercury or any noxious or deadly compound, to cure this annoying disease so effectually as Carter's Spanish Mixture. While it contains none ol the above named dangerous articles, vet it possssses a power in relieving snd curing Fever and Ague which cannot be approach cd by any oi them separately or in combination. It acts specifically on the Liver, Purifies the Blood, opens the pores of the Skin, and assists nature to expel from the system tho seeds of Disease, or what is as bad, the remains of the Mineral Drugs, which clog and finally destroy the constitution.
See the cure of Mr. Longden of Virginia. He had Chills twice a day for 3 years and nothing would relieve him until he tried Carter's Spanish Mixture, only 3 bottles of which effectually restored him to health, nor has he had a return of tho disease since. June 12-1 m.

HAIR RESTORATIVE. WoldC^LL
E' THE ATTENTION OF ALL, and young to this wonderful preparation which turns back to its original co'or grew hair— covers the head of the bald with a luxuriant gaowth—removes the dandruff, itching and all cutaneous eruptions—causes a continual flo^ ot the natural fluids and hence, il'used as a rO^ular dressing for the hair, will preserve its color, ."w»d keep it from falling to extreme old age, in all i's natural beauty. We call, then, upon.tho bald, the gray, or piscased in scalp, to use it and surely, the young will not, as they value the flowing locks, or the witching curls, ever be without it.-— Its praise is upon the tongue of thousands.
Water ford, Mass., July 25,1855.
PROF. O. J. WOOD: With ronfidence do I recommend your Hair Restoralive, as being the inoat efficacious article I ever saw. I have used \i and other preparations of the day, all without effect. Since using your Hair Restorative, my hair and whiskers, which were almost white, have gradually grown dark and I now feel confident, that a few more application will restore them to their natural color, it also has relieved me of all dandruff and unpleasant itchin", so common among persons who perspire freely
J. G. KlI,liY.
North Eaet Pennsylvania, March 9, 1855. SIR: In conscquenee of having hair, for several years past, not unly gray, but perfectly white, 1 have cut it short, and worn caps to hide it from view but some three months since, I was induced to use your Hair Restorative, and I must injustice say, that its effects were almost miraculous for it has changed it gradually to almost its former splendor as to color, and left it so soft and glossy as to be more beautiful than it ever was, when under the influence of the finest oil. I earnestly therefore, recommcnd it to every lady as decidedly the best preparation for toilet use of anything in the world. BETSY SMITH.
PROF. WOOD—Having experienced the magic effect of your Hair Restorative, I drop you this upon the subject. About two years ago, my]iair commenced falling off and turning gray I was fast becoming bald. I meta lricud who had used your Restorative and spoke so highly of its virtues that I was indoced to try it, although I had but little faith, as I had before tried so many other remedies. I commenced using your Restorative in January lrst. A few applications fastened my hair firmly. It began to fill up, grow out, and turned back to its former color, (black). At this time it is fully restored to its original color, health and appearance, and I cheerfully recommend its use to all. J. D. HOES.

F. BROWN'S ESSENCE OE
A MACASINGER.
This essence is a preparation of unusual excellence. In ordinary diarrhoea, incipient cholera, in short, in all cases of prostration of the digestive functions, it is of inestimable value. During tho prevalence of epidemic cholera and summer complaints of children, it is peculiarly cfficatious no family, individual, or traveller should be without it.
CACTION.—Be
A. HUNTINGTON.
The above speaks for itself. Good proof as it is, it is of no better tenor than the vast number of like certificates I have already published, and the still greater amount that is continually pouring in tome.
One thing more. Last year I had occasion to Caution the public in these words:— "I notice one firm wqo have taken one of my general circulars, substituted the name oftheir nos trun for air medicine, and then with brazen impudence end their paitiphlet with the exclamation, "Let the proprietor of any other medicine say as much ifhe dares.'" &c.
in favor of its perfectly
HARMLESS CHARACTER, which is attached to every bottle. These will always serve to distinguish my medicine from imitations,
