SALUTATORY.
Fellow-Citizens of the County of Montgomery. and of the City of Cra it for as :!&— In assuming the Editorial management of'the Local department of the
Journal,
we will endeav
or, briejly, to give our position in reference to all matters of importance which ma come under our immediate notice.
Politically Native American, Anti-Shivery, Temperance, and eternal hostility to Old Linoism in general.
Home Affair?—Tn favor of supporting and cucouraging home industry of every kind, and patronizing our own Mechanics and business men generally.
Morally—Not extreiiioly pious ourself, hut in favor of any and everything which we conceive to be man's duty toward his Maker, himself, and his fellow-man.
Personally—Xot married, but. don't know how soon wo may be, as this is leap year, and we are generally conceded to be tolerably good looking. Not very rich, but willing to earn our living by the "sweat of the brow,'-' and thus obey that awful and solemn decree. ]). M. C.

GREAT CURE OF RHEtJMARISM IN CINCINNATI, OHIO.—CONVINCING .EVIDEMCE.-TJ'-or more than 3 years I have been suffering with rheumatism and enlargement and pain of the bones and joints. have strictly followed the advieo of physicians, aud-at other times used .such family medicines as dad been recommended for the cmo of rheumatism still I did not improve in the least, and was frequently compelled to keep my bed, and thereby was prevented from attending to my business. Some weeks ago I was induced by a frioud to try Carter's Spanish Mixture. The effect was miraculous. 1 I felt considerably improved after 1 had taken the fourth dose have only used one single bottle, and am entirely free from all pain. I feel better than 1 have felt for years and I attribute my completely-res-tored health solely to the use of Carter,s Spanish Mixture. 1 consider it a most excellent medicine for rheumatism and all diseases of the blood, and cheerfully recommend it to the 'alllieted. liURUlT, S. Supper was given by our friend Dr. MORGAN, for the purpose of dedicating hi--newly finished room in Empire Block.— The room in which it was prepared, is one of the finest and most elegantly finished iu the West, and the styles, workmanship, and painting cannot be surpassed anywhere. This added much to the interest of the occasion, and the richness and. abundance of the Oyster-Soup, gave it a still deeper interest to us. Oysters and oyster-soup, sweet-meats, &c., &c., abounded in rich profusion, and such a "taking-in" of Oysters we seldom sec. Much credit, is due io Dr. Morgan, for the style in which the supper was served up, and also to Mr. NATHANIEL MORGAN, for the superior skill displayed in the finish of the new room. It
