A PARADOX.—An Arkansas paper publishes an article headed "Wanted in Arkansas," in which it enumerates, among other wants, 500,000" good, industrious farmers, to till the land now lying all over the State idle, and adds "The land ie first rate, water excellent, and the health good. The land will produce cotton, corn, wheat, rye, oats, barley, potatoes, and every kind of vegetable that grows in the United States."

Yet Kansas and Nebraska must necessarily be organized that room may be made for the growing wants of the people.

LAST*

IS

KANSAS.—Col. Manypenny has

written a letter to th-3 St. Louis Pilot denying the assertion of tlie St. Louis Democrat the Benton organ, that ths treaties with the Indians of Kansas and Nebraska have been so framed as to prevent the right of preemption to actual settlers, lie says the Senate has confirmed all the treaties made witli the tribes north of the Kansas river that by these treaties, twelve millions seven hundred and eleven thousand eight hundred and forty acres of land have been unconditionally ceded to the United States, while six hundred and sixty-two thousand hix hundred and sixty acres are received, and cannot be sold at reduced prices till after a limited time.

To SINGERSAXD PUBLIC SI'EAKJ-T.S this remedy is invaluable, as by its action on the throat and Ir.iigs, when taken in small quantities, it removes all hoarsness in a few hours, and wonderfully increases the power and flexibility of the voice.

ASTHMA is generally much relieved, and often wholly cured by Cherry pectoral. But there are some cases so obstinate as to yield entirely to medicine. Cherry Pcctaral will cure them if they can be cured. "BKOXCIIITS, irritation of the throat and upper portion of the lungs, may be cured by taking Cherry Pectoral in small and frequent doses. '1 lie uncomfortable oppression is soon relieved.

Ilev. Doct. LANSING, of BROOKLYN, NEW! YORK, states —1 'I have seen the Cherry Pectoral cure such cas-1 es of Asthma and Bronchitis as leads me to be-j J.IIO wOOiE tCJiOVfi. lieve it can rarely fail to cure those diseases.'
