LADIES' DEPARTMENT OF THE

COMMERCIAL C0LIE6 OF INDIANAPOLIS. THIS Department, which has been closed for some time for want of room, will be re-opened at College ITall on the first Monday of November, and be continued permanently open for the reception of Ladies.

The objects aimed at in this Department are, first, to remedy the great and lamentable effects in the present system of female education, by training the mind to a more active, accurate, and practical mode of thought, and imparting that thorough knowledge of business matters as to make them more selfreliant and independent than they now are.

And, Second, to open tip new and more profitable sources of employment for females who are obliged to earn a scanty subsistence by the hard and trying labors of the needle, or the irksome and poorly paid duties of the teacher, by qualifying them for the less arduous but more profitable duties of an accountant.

Terms & regulations the same in both Departments. Ladies from abroad will be furnished board in private families, who will exercise kind parental care over them during their stay.

No lady need hesitate coming, or no parent to send his daughter, through false motives of delicacy, as to interference with the Ladies on the part of the Gentlemen is never allowed.

Important Arrest of Counterfeiters!

Farther Developements of Viliiany—Caution to Business Men and the Public generally.

A number of arrests have been made in the IX States of Indiana, Ohio, and New York, and among others, was otie Andrew J. White of Buffalo, who was arrested and imprisoned on a charge for counterfeiting Perry Davis' Pain'Killer. Said White was finally released from prison, by filing his bond in the penalty of $2000 for his appearance at court, soon after which it was understood he had left for California, and if it had proved true, the people in this part of the country might, well have congratulated themselves on having got rid of so consumate a villian, but from recent developemefits it is evident he has returned and is again stealthily and secretly yet extensively engaged in the fnanufacture and sale of the most dangerous imitation of Davis' Pain Killer that has ever made its appearance. Indeed few persons would be able to distingui.-h it from Genuine, till the utter worthlessness of the article would convince them that they have been imposed upon by a counterfeit.
