DRESS GOODS.

seen the black Bilk and wool CrepoDS this jeai

To judge by our counterful of them one might thick the were the only fabric of the season which they're not by any meanc, beauti(ui and rich as they arc, 8150. S2.00, *2.50 and higher,

You don't imagine, do you, that the finest of these are made by machinery? Most all are made at iheir own homes by men who have learned the fine art of weaving from their fathers, or have otherwise been trained to it, as to any other fioe art. They know how to let the silk buckle (or blister, ae they call it) out from the wool enough to get the effect they seed, and yet not to let it go too far.

Machines can't do that—not so well as hands. And yet you

buy machine made here and elsewhere. The almost infinite variety of these make thun hard to (.'escribe, what with the matalasse designs, caniche, vttvet and satin stripes and close, and all the ingenious device and designs of the Parisian desiguers, understood and irneil out by the weavers of Pi cardic. j^obair crepons have the lustre of silk but are not sosmooth an •'soft. Tney are, however, more servicable—silk crepons were never intended for rough use.

Mohair crepons, SI, SI.25, $1.50, 61.75 and e2.00. Both

Another bedding luxury of which we hare the agency, are the Merritt-Health wool comforts. They are made of pure ecoured wool, are lighter than cotton, with double the warmth, making them cheap although higher in price, because fewer are required. With handsome silkoline coverings $4.00 each.
