ROMNEY.

We are at the bat again. Mary Webb was in Lafayette last \v» ek.

Miss Mary Pike was in Lafayette, Saturday. Rnlibit hunting has been very good this season.

Mr. Mull has moved into the property of Mr. Webb. Mr. Coffey who is the lady on west Market street?

There is some talk of another elevator being built here. Curt Wells is now a boss lineman for the Ilomney telephone. llarry Learning has his house now moved nearer the street. bkl Andrews had his foot mashed a chunk of coal last week.

Dr. Tike is very busy repairing the telephone lines at this place. The township boarders are being recruited together at this place.

Hunters are numerous and you see about twenty hunters to each rabbit. Say that Raub station foot ball team thiDk they are great now. Don't they?

Skating has been fair and the small boy with his 6kates is quite numerous. y.

Richmond P. Ilobson, the hero of the "Merrimac," passed through here Sunday.

Plumbers have been busy repairing tLe furnace at the church the last week.

It is ruraortd that a billiard and pool room will shortly be opened up in this town.

Thanks New Richmond we will try to be a little more prompt. Free silver is on top.

What has become of the yellow race horse that is generally hitched at a certain house these nights.

Mrs. Sutton has moved to Huntington, Ind. Miss Ida still remaius here in charge o' the telephone station.

The remonstrance against Mr. Martin for running a saloon here knocked that gentleman's appbcation higher than a kite.

Dare Craig is now serving red hot oyster ffiews. Say are they any warmer than that charming widow over in the woods, Dave?

The elevator is now busy taking in corn from all parts of the county. The Romuey elevator can not be beaten for grain anywhere.

You old Hog Hea/ener you should quit chewing the rag so much ^down therewith Sally, etc.^You old ladies should be more sociable.

Some of the ^chronic news packers and dead beats are talking of forming an anti-poke-your-nose society here. They will probably get quite a number.

There are some slobber rr.ouths in Romney who the old is licking hie chops over and has a nine warm bunk for dead beat and eossipers. Beware.

We nonce that the stores at Romney are assuming a holiday attire. The 6tore on the west side we notice has a fine line of confections. Old .Santy Claus will not go a begging in the old town.

There some people in this town who would give a square meal up any time to get their long, lean nose into some body's business and who pose before tha public as great enemies to evildoers. Such hypocrites, we believe, would prove a paying investment for a band of Whitecaps.

There are ministers and 'there are those who are far from the calling of the minister who keeps a race horse and ride on the train at half-fare while all others pay full fare and wears broad cloth given him by the people and receives donations. He should not preach politics and slander people just because he was in the pulpit. There is one not far from here who io giving everybody hades but himself. He has a boy who if he would look after and not allow him to take his big dog to the ice where children are and stand by and let the dog down little boys and girls. If this gospel peddler would look more to that Bon and not quite so much to other people's business it would be more becoming to a man of his cloth. Preach the gospel and let other things alone. You will have double the people come to hear you.

SgJ ROBERT'S CHAPEL.

Take Tin-. REVIEW. Harry Zook saj Guy and Clarence are too slow.

Ask the Ash Grove pencil pusher who her fellows have been and where they are now.

Misses Edwards and Gillan and Mr. Grant Agnew were taken into the church laet Sunday.

Mr. and Mis. W. H. Breaks, of Crawfordsville, took dinner with John Cowan and wife last Sunday.

On last Saturday while returning from town some joung galoot lired a load of shot into Alvin Breaks, buggy, three shot striking Mrs. Breaks. The woods are full of boys with guns and doing damage to cattle.

Miss Polly Pacer, sell you ducks and geese and fly you kite if you wish to

keep out of trouble. John Francis ia on the war path. lie says if the law won't handle you by gosh, he will and save he wont be slandered by you.

What we can see—Harry Breaks going south every two weeks—Brother John growing tired of his class—the interest io Sunday school growing— that Fred Lown is preparir.g for a wedding—that THE REVIEW is getting to be a thing we can't do without-that Ash Grove scribeloies to be kisfed.

BAD MEDICINE.

The sick are better at this writing. We are all looking for Santa Claus. Frank Delaney is working for the Mayor.

Hello, Cherry Grove, where did you ge^ that name? Myrtle Francis is sick with a bad cold. We all miss her sweet voice-

Frank how did it come that your girl beat you home the other night? Dan says that Frank is not the only clothespin if he has got a wooden head.

The Miss Edwards are getting ready to take flower lessons from Miss Myrtl Francis.

Our friend, Mary Moore, i^ on the sick list. This is the reason she could not write this week.

Ask Frank Delaney why he didn't take the back seat out and bring his girl home from church.

Say, Ash Grove, if you will send that fellow down I will give him a peach for some of his perfume,

That little, 6hort, stub nose of a Wide Awake better attend to his own business and let the names in the paper alone. •OSay that stub nose, short legged, pop eyed, of Ash Grove better watch out or she will get wood enough to last all winter if she says anything about Sally.

As Mary Moore and I were paesing through Hog Heaven the other day we saw Polly Pacer cutting wood. Now Polly why don't you get married and quit working so bard?.

Willis prize pictures cost no more than others from $1.00 per doz. up. -i

Crose is Sentenced.

Thursday morning Peter Crose, the Linden rapist, wasbrnught before Judge West and received his sentence, from one to twenty-one years in the northern prison. Peter looked and felt in better spirits thau at any time since his incarceration. When Judge West asked him if he had anything to say why sentence should not be pronounced, Peter arose to his feet and in a clear voice said: "Judge, I'm not guilty, and if I was given another trial I could bring witnesses forward to prove that I am an innocent man." At the conclusion of the sentence Peter said he would like to make a speech to the court, but Judge West was not in the humor for hearing wild harangues and consequently Crose was hustled back to jail. Sheriff Canine will not take Crose north before next Monday or Tuesday.

Bank Robbers not Caught. The dispatches from Wabash that the bank robbers who escaped from jail in Delphi had been recaptured in Miami county, is not true, the fugitives being still at large. Sheriff Bridge is using every exeition, but fears that the publication will millitate against their recapture.v

Will J. Johnston attended the district meeting of the Knight of Pythias held at Thorntown last Tuesda.

Furs and Hides. *t,«

The time of year is now at hand that we begin to talk of the fur business again. The people of Montgomery and adjoining counties will bear in mind that Joseph Goldberg is always in the market and willing to pay the highest cash prices for all kinds of furs and all kinds of hides, and guarantees fair anu square treatment. Thanking you for your passed favors I remain,

Yours Respectfully,
