Rabbit hunters, with dogs and ferrets' are on the warpath every Sunday. Bill Stout killed twenty-two the other Sunday.
A very prominent young widower, of Black creek vicinity, will soon wed a little black-eyed maid, at least indications point that way.
Us girls are all at home now and big dinners will soon be all the rage. The preachers can prepare to feast on the fat of the land during protracted meeting.
Wesley Snyder still remembers his old Black creeii friends. They get letters from him every week. His daughter, Miss Oata, is said to be the leading belle of Oxford.
Most people around here are chopping wood. Ira Couger has a hundred cords cut. Hog Heaven and vicinity will be prepared to furnish the city with dry wood next winter.
If we had more old bachelors like Ellis Gray the poor widows ani orphans wouldn't suffer with cold. He keeps them in wood, and nlso Sees that W. J. Snyder gets a load each week.
Coleman Blankenship, of Prairie Edge, took dinner with me on Wednesday. lie told me to tell Mary Moore that he would gladly bring his pipe and call on her if he only knew where she was located.
Sandy, the democrats around here ail endorse your sentiments regarding Grant Agnew. He is a first class chairman, and if his party don't run him for sheriff in 1900, us girls will hold a convention and nominate him ourselves.
Hamlin Morris, Sandy's eldest son, who is in the 7th grade at the valley echool, passsed a grade of DS) in arithmetic last week. This is remarkably well for one of Hamlin's age. If the old man ever Uid this well, the records do not show it.

apolis on Monday. Link got hia start in Hog Heaven, and he is now a prosperous contractor and builder in Indianapolla. He has bought property in that city, and is coming rapidly to the front as a first-class stair builder, lo spite of much sickness he has persevered. Industry, sobriety and pluck always wins.
Hog Heaven was aa quiet and lonely as a grave yard last Sunday. The boys and girls had gone over to spend the day with Miss Verna Viers. I wa*not lhere, having a preacher man at my house, but all the other pretty girls were. It is needless to say that the dinner was
fine.
The young folks were
pretty doggone hungry, and the baaed chicken soon passed fioui the linht of day. 1 was too premature, the ether day, in my item regarding the removal ot SHU dy's house. It was not moved until laei week. Eli Chad wick had charge of the moving and ariived at the bridge with it last Saturday. When he had the structure about eight feet above the floor of the bridge, the spectators com menced telling him what to do, and had he paid attention to all the instructions that were tendered him he woula have been crazy aa a bed bug, and the house would be now resting on the bed of the creek. The task required a cool-headed man, and Eli got there all right. Such a thing was never accompli-hed before in Montgomery county.
Wide Awake, why are you always picking on us girls? In last week's issue you accused my friend, Miss Mary Moore, o' slipping into town and putting her letter under the
office
Nest Again,' everybody singiug in concert. After kissing me goodnight the girls went home, saying it was "the finest doings they were ever at."

On last Tuesday evening 1 gave a swell tea party, at my winter cottage near the mouth of coon hollow, (the most beautiful apot in Ilog Heaven,) in honor of the following young ladies, who were present: Misses Zolo Doyle, of the southern part of the Heaven Mary Moore, of Prairie Edge Sal lie Barlow, of Bad Medicine Ivy Zook, of "Ireland and Josephine Davis, of Longview. Exquisite beverages were served, consisting of sasafras tea, catnip tea, pennyroyal tea and ginger tea. The cold drinks were snow water and pure cider—vinegar. A lar^e batch of soda biscuits was also served. While thegirls were supping their tea through straws, I read a paper on "The Rights of Yvotnan," after which Ive and Zol enlivened the occasion with a sparkling dialogue. Then Sallie got up and spoke a piece entitled "Curfew Shall Not Ring To-night." i'he festivities closed with the song entitled, "When the Robins
