/lust Be a Joke.

En. RKVIEW:— What escaped our notice until lately is a column in the Sunday Star, under date of July 3, 1898, under the head of "A Plucky Fight. It is concerning William M. Reeves, the candidate for prosecuting attorney, nominated by the republican convention. It states in irt that Mr. Reeves is an up-to-date lawyer, and that he has recovered the following sums of money l'or different persons, which is too absurd to be true: 8100,000 for one, S118.000 for another, and $72,000 for anrther, in all £.100,000 The writer of the article in the Star probably meant to leave off the ciphers of the above amounts which would make 8300 instead of the enormous sum above. As tar as William M. Reeves being an up-to-date lawyer, everyone knows as to his ability. He is no*' ner 4f years of age, and a careful poll of all the lawyers in Crawfordsville will show that he personally never tried a Iittigated case even before a justice of the peace.

How about the Ed Holloway case? Reaves might have enlightened the public by telling who he collected the above amounts for, as it will be news to the lawyers in Crawfordsville.

R.-eves is a good trader when it comes to real estate. He seems to have adopted tbe policy of a supposed ex-judge in blowing his own bugle.

The picture in the article herein mentioned, resembles Reeves, and it soui.ilh like he had written the article himtelf.
