In these sad vaius forever. —D. I. C. T. u. Because They Were Color-Blind. Superintendent Riley, of the Peoria & Eastern has bad to dismiss the agents at two stations on the road because they were color-blind. The company makes color-test of its employes every two years, and these men secured employment between examinations. It was learned that one of the men had been employed in a country store that sold dry-goods, and had been dismissed by the merchant because of his inability to distinguish colors. The specific case that led to his dismissal was the complaint of a woman shopper that she had ordered some blue ribbon and the erlr had given her red ribbon.
A Verdict for $300.
The case of John L. Goben vs. Ezra Voris, was before the couit and jury during two days of last week. The suit was brought by Goben, he claiming that he had deputized Vori3 to buy a piece of land for him. Vorie, he affirms, sold it to another man, by which he was injured several hundred dollars in not getting it. The jury after lintening to the evidence of witnesses and speeches of the attorneys, retired to meditate over the case. They returned after being out several hours with a verdict in favor of Goben for $300.
LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
—Walter J. Coppage was last WPPK appointed administrator ef the estate uf Hannah Butcher. —Abe Watson is engaged in the manufacture of hominy at Indianapolis. —Wm. Hall, of Brown township, has lately built a neat cottage on wept 1'ike street, and last week moved into it. —Ex-Superintendent Reed, of the Water and Light Company, will do the street sprinkling for the ensuing three years.
Not That Kind Here.
Hoopestowc, Ili.. a town of 4,000 inhabitants, has never had a saloon. The mayor receives a salary of 50 cents a year, the remuneration of each of the councilmen is half that amount, and no fees are accepted. Last year the combined salaries of the mayor and the city faihere were given to help a needy widow pay her taxes.
Well Invested.
Twenty years ago the late John K. Gray, of Waynetown. took out an insurance policy on his life for §1,000. He paid yearly 828.33 to continue the poiicy, the total sum for 'JO years amounting to $737. His administrator was paid this week by the agent, W. W. Morgan for the company, a Milwaukee concern, 81,085. This proved an excellent investment.

Scrofula Tumors
Broke Out and Caused Intense Suffering—Hood's Sarsaparilla Keeps the Blood Pure, "Several years ago I had scrofula which appeared in tumors in different part* of my body. It look five weeks for them to develop BO they could be lanced and I suffered intensely. Physicians failed to cure me. Atcr threo years of great suffering the trouble reached my throat and my tonsils were consumed. I read of cures of scrofula by Hood's Sarsaparilla and procured six bottles. After taking a few bottlc3 I felt better. I continued until I was eventually cured. I have never been troubled with scrofula since that time. Hood's Sarsaparilla keepa niy blood pure in spring and fall." MKS.SARAH C. DAI.ES, Rutland, 111.
