The Commercial College of this city, under the highly efficient management ot Prof. A. J. Hall, has just closed the most successful year in the career of" the institution. Prospects for the coming year are, indeed, most flattering and to accomodate the increased attendance new rooms have been handsomely fitted up. An English department will be added to facilitate the progiess of students, who have not the advantage of Buch a course, and a competent instructor of well known reputation will be in charge. The apartments are commodi. dious and the reception room has been materially improved in appearance by a piano. The school is enjoying a good healthy, steady growth, and as the de mands for graduates, who are everywhere being tendered positions of responsibility and trust, will attest, the school is held in high regard by the country at large. The*next term opens

September 13 and those who desire information should write to or call on Prof. A. J. Hall.—Daily Journal.

THE REVIEW agrees with the above article in the fullest, having last week paid the college a visit. An institution of this character is tee pride of any city so fortunate as to afford it a home.

Governor Mount received a letter from Governor Tanner, of Illinois, last week, explaining why a requisition for Louis Enricht had not been honored. Enricht was charged with obtaining $31,000 worth of bonds from the Indianapolis, Anderson & Marion Railroad Company under false pretenses. He ia surveyor of Cook county, Illinois, and Governor Tanner says if Enricht's affidavits are to be credited, it would appear that instead of being chargeable with crime, he has been much abused,

Enricht's attorneys argue before the Illinois executive that it was an attempt to pet him back to Indiana and annoy him with suits under civil action,

Grand Musicale.

A grand musicale and elocutionary entertaiement will be given ufider thj management of Prof. Manly Booo at Newtown, Indiana, on the fair grounds, Suturday, September 4th. The euccedf Prof. Booe has met with in such enterprises assures that this wiil be equal to anything of the kind ever held. There will be quartetts, boloe, trios, duetts and instrumental music. Prof. Eddie Brandcamp, wife and boy will participate in the exercises, and introduce many new piec of music, vocal and instrumental.

A Damage Suit.

The natural gas company is to be made defendant in a suit brought by a New Hampshire insurance company. The company paid an insurance of 8300 on a house belonging to Patrick Slattery, in the south-west part of town, last winter, by Hames from escaping natural gas. Some two or thrre other houses were either destroyed or damaged from the same source during the same time. The allegation is made that this lose was caused by the carlessness or incotnpetancy of the company through its employees.

Died at Corinne, Utah.

Miss Liddie Guthrie, who with her mother aud brother removed from here about three weeks pitco to Corinne, Utah, died in that city on the 26th. She had been unwell for about a year, and it was hoped a change of climate would prove beneficial to her. She was in the 22d year of her age. The remains were interred at the cemetery in that city.
