What

wonder it is that some

women are so heedless about the things that concern them most They endure all sorts of pain and misery with care

would never be possible if they realized the consequences. Comparatively few women Understand thai when they neglect their health because they are too busy or overworked or their minds are taken up with other concerns, that they are balancing on the edge of a fatal precipice.

Any weakness or disease of woman's special organism is no trifling matter. A woman who through indifference

neglects these troubles is laying the foundation for life-long wretchedness. A modest woman naturally recoils from the mortifying ordeal of examinations and local treatment which doctors insist upon. But there is no necessity for any such repugnant alternative. Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription cures these delicate complaints positively and completely. It is a medicine devised for this particular purpose by one of the most emineut of living specialists in woman's diseases.

Dr. Pierce has been for nearly 30 years chief consulting physician of the Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute, of Buffalo, N. Y. During this time he has received fully ninety thousand letters from women who have been cured by the Favorite Prescription." Some of these letters are printed by permission in one chapter of Dr. Pierce's great thousand-page book, "The People's Common Sense Medical Adviser." It contains advice and suggestions for selftreatment which every woman ought to read. More than half a million copies have been sold at $1.50 each. An absolutely free edition in paper covers will be sent for a limited time to anyone sending 21 one-cent stamps to pay the cost of mailing only. Address World's Dispensary Medical Association, Buffalo, N. Y. For a handsome clothbound copy send 31 stamps.

The Art of Liying,

And living well is in judicious marketing. Where you buy is of as much importance as what you buy, and what you pay for it, when it comes to food. You want to know the surroundings of the things you are going to eat. Notice the clean liness of our store. Everything is fresh and appetizing and attractive. The prices are always right.

Sunday and Monday the thermometerranged from 90 to 96 degrees of heat, and these were the warmest days of the summer thus far.

Charles E. Beebee, of Crawfordsville, has accepted a call to the Y. M. C. A. at Hammond. He will enter upon his new duties about Aug 1.

A six weeks term of normal school undjr the management of Prof. McBeth begins next week in the central building of Wabash College.

The fact is verified at Michigan City that Lake Michigan, which has been slowly falling for the last seven years is again increasing its depth.

Two or three cases of sun stroke in different parts of the county have been reported this week. None of them, however, have resulted fatally.

Wm. Houlehan, for nineteen years a bar kfeeper for Albert Muhleisen, died Friday night and was burried on the following Sunday evening. The deceased was known for his integrity, faithfulness to his trust and close at tention to his duties. His age was 52 yeare.

During the fiscal year just closed the collections in the Terre Haute revenue district were $6,017,000, of which nearly 12,300,000 came from tax on spirits. During the year the Indiana distillery at Terre Haute was grinding from 4,000 to 5,200 bushels daily, the spirits being shipped away in bond. Had it been otherwise, the collections would have been increased nearly $2,000,000.

Wednesday, the 7th, was the hotest day yet of the present summer. The register in the various parts of town differ often to an extent of from 4 to 6 degrees, but the correct register was probably about 98 degrees when the heat was the most intense, which was near the hour of 1 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. There have been days fully as warm in summers of the past ten jears, and the assertion that Wednesday was the hottest day in 20 years, we believe is not correct.

Great Weakness

Unable to Walk and Hardly Able to Speak—Long Time an InvalidNow Strong and Healthy.

I feel it a duty to testify to the merits of Hood's Sarsaparilla. I was long an Invalid and unable to walk on account of weakness. I could hardly apeak. A friend told me about Hood's Sarsa par ilia and I began taking it. After taking six bottles I could sit up In a chair and I could talk so that any one could hear me very distinctly. I continued taking Hood's Sarsaparilla until I could walk about on the farm. Today I am strong and healthy and can do aa good a day's work as anyone. The facta I have stated can be proved by many people in this, neighborhood who knew my condition. I hope others afflicted as I was will be led by my experience to give Hood's Sarsaparilla a trial. I believe it is the best blood purifier in the world today." WlLUiK
