NOT TOBE CONSOLIDATED. It was proposed in th« interest of economy during the latter part of Cleveland's administration to consolidate the variouB pension paying oBces throughout the west, reducing them from about ten to six. This would be a saving to the government in rent and the hiring of cleras to ao amount abrogating many thousands of dollars. Since McKinlny and his ?rowd have assumed control it has been determined to abandon this proposed effort at economy. The truth ^eeme to be that there would be too many hungry republicans deprived of opportunity to become leaches on the government, and they might be compelled to become common every day laborers. Therefore the offices will remain with all their expenses to be borne by the tax payers of the country. The thought comes up 'what will the vast army of republican office seekers now drawing pay through the pension department do for a livelihood in three or four decades from now when all the soldiers |of the late war will have pasaedj.away, and the government be forced to curtail expenses and abolish many of the present positions.
It Bhould be remembered that thousands of the party holding office now were doing so thirty years ago, and all such persons of cour&e are down on the civil service law and will always be.
TO BE COMI1ENDED.
The way the authorities got after the street railway company at Indianapolis in enforcing the law compelling them to accept the three cent fare (or transportation over its line is to be commended. Individuals are compelled to obey the law or they are punished, why not corporations likewise? Corporations should be made to dance the same as other people whenever they undertake to override the law. You could go any distance on a street car by paving 3 cents, not 5 as formerly. That is enongh {considering the money stringency of four years past, and the -"reduction should have been made long :«ago. Corporations of all kinds are seeking continually to gain advantages —over the people and require constant watching. The Indianapolis plan is to be commended—go after them rough shod, and stay with them until they are whipped.
SU1TJENTERED.
The Attorney-General has entered suit against the Vandalia railway for $2,000,000 alleged to be du** the State from that corporation for the school fund. The fund has been iiccumulating for thirty years, but it will be thirty years more probably before the State receives anything from it, if indeed Bhe ever gets a cent. The Attorney-General should receive a gold medal, a big fee and the unanimous thanks of the people of Indiana if he by any legal work, crook or twist compels that corporation to pay the amount sued for, or even the half of it. The road at this time is in the hands of a receiver. When it gets out oi those hands what will the State's claim amount to? Little or nothing the public will think.
HE DON'T WANT MUCH. An Indianapolis ex-soldier through Senator Fairbanks is aiming to ge: the large claim of @7,500 allowed him by Congress, claiming, we see it stated,
Children
One satisfaction in giving Scott's Emulsion to children is tbsy never object to it. The fact is, they soon become fond of it. Another satisfaction is because it will make them plump, and give them growth and prosperity. It should be given to all children who are too thin, or too pale. It does not make them over-fat Jut plump.
It strengthens the digestive organs and the nerves, and furnishes material for rich blood.

that he spent that sum of money In seeking to free himself from a rebel prison. That man's claim should be^ scanned closplyi every item should be fully set out aiid the fchys And where fores thoroughly explained. It 1B doubtful considering the great length of tiiue sinco the war closed if this claim at this late day should be allowed. It looks hke there is a Degrointhe wo pile some where. However if the applicant is a good republican, was a blower and striker for McKinley during the last campaign, there is little question about its allowance. Many similar claims could no doubt be soon produced.
The
question is not as to the justness of them, but as to the partisan activity of the applicant.
KENTUCKY REPUBLICANS. The Kentucky republicans vith their temporary possession of a little author! ty have shown in themselves the full characteristics of 'he party. Their leading statesman, Dr. Hunter, a candidate for U. S. Senator. wa9 indicted by a grand jury at Frauk ort, «»P charge of attempted bribery of some members of the legislature in order to secure their votes, and many other prominent mem bers of the party have shownj^them selves t« be equally susceptible of money influences. Wo doubt the peo pie of that State have had enough of republican modes and manners, and at the next general election will purge themselves of the evils lately brought about in that State by that party Hunter is no doubt a specimen brick of Kentucky republican leaders, and tte honest thinking and acting portion of the people are thoroughly tired of them
THE EUROPEAN WAR. The war between Turkey and Greece is now fully on and many bloody en gagements have already taken place The sympathy of this country very gen erally will be with the Grecian nation Their cause appears to those who have studied the subject the most rational and just, and the eagerness with which they have entered into the war, and their valor since it opened indicate them to be worthy descendants of the great and good of a nation]so renowned in war and wisdom in the many cen turies that have passed since Greece became so prominent in history.
A DELPHI paper suggests the name of Capt. D. Allen, of Frankfort, as a suitaable candidate upon the democratic ticket next year for Congress. A good suggestion. Allen is a democrat, and will be forgiven for hie part last year in foisti'ng on to the party the "what is it' as a candidate for Congress, if hereafter he will let such people alone. It was not good politics and SBf'er could be made so. There iB no wise politicM strategy in going out of one's own party for a candidate for an important vfficp.
Allen himself is all riifht and would be a strong candidate.
SENATOR FAIRBANKS' principal claim to statesmanship thus far seems to be in securing cheap postofficee for his adherents. It is probable that there iB where his greatest ability rests, and is very similar to the average republican Congressman's claim for popular support.

What use is there in eating when food does you no good—in fact, when it does you mjre harm than good, for such is it'6 case if it is oot digested?
If you have a loathing for food there is no use of forcing it down, for it will not be digested. You must restore the digestive organs to their natural strength and cause the food to be digested, when an appetite will come, and with it a relish for food.
The tired, languid feeling will give place to vigor and energy 'r then you will put flesh on your bones and become strong. The Shaker Digestive Cordial as made by the M.ount Lebanon Shakers contains food already digested and ie a digester of food as well. Ita action is Drompt and its effects permanent.
