All the personal property of the Carthage canning factory has been sold at auction.

About one mile and a half south of Edinburg there is a coffee plantation. It was not known that this article, called American coffee, could be grown in this country till quite recently. F. R. Wright, the owner, has harvested several hundred bushels from his last crop.

JohnD. Cochran, of Franklin, under suspicion at one time of having killed Frank Redmond, of Indianapolis, has been arrested and transfered to Pomeroy, O., on charge of highway robbery.

Ephraim Krott has filed a suit for $10,000 damages at Franklin, against, A. B. Colton, growing out of the arrest several months ago of the plaintiff, who was acquitted of the charge of receiving stolen goods.

Frank Spurr, alias Frank Smith, who attempted to pass a forged check at Franklin and was arrested, on a plea of guilty, has been sentenced He is supposed to have been the man who defrauded a bank at Cambridge City out of $70.

Conspiracy to Murder. John Pangea has been placed on trial at Lebanon this week for eonspiring to commit murder. Last November Parigen and Jesse Miller were arrested, and while in custody of patrolman George Frost, a friend. William Wood, attempted to rescue them. This led to shooting between Frost and Wood, in which Wood was killek. Both Miller and Parigen were indicted.

From almost every ssotion of Clay county comes the report .that there is more sickness prevailing at this time than before in the recol lection of the oldest inhabitants. Pneumonia, measles and la grippe seem to prevail. In some localities and districts scarcely a family is exempt, while in, many families there are several cases. In one family in a central district of the oounty there are seven cases of measles in a serious form. These reports of the prevalence of siekaess come from reliable source and s*e confirmed by the best citizen*. The diseases named are epidemio at places.
