The Case of a Veteran Cited Whose Paralysis Came from Ex= posure in the Army.

In the town of Oneontn, in Otfppo County, Nevr York, lor grout many years lliere tins lived a man whose life luis been overshadowed by that terrible diseiu-v, paralysis. I was reared on a farm and blessed by Nature with a strong eonstitution and good health, fairly in "life I removed Albany, thence toSclienevns, in this county, and finally settled down in Oneontn, where I have lived a treat many years. "When the war broke out I was (strong find active, being nearly six feet tall and weighing 225 pounds. I enlisted in the Third New York Cavalry and served three years. Of the lonir, weary marches, espec ially in North Carolina of the days and nmliis of exposure I will not speak, lor it was in the barracks at Washington that my misery began. While there heavy rains fell anil not having sufficient protection ofUirnes we awoke, in the morning drenched with the rain. At this time I contracted a cold and along with it came that dread disease, rheumatism. I rapidly grew worse anil was re. moved to the hospital where 1 was attended by Dr. Leonard, now of Worcester in this county. lie made me as comfortable as anv man could, but I could not shake oil" the dixejwe. A Deception Easily Practised ie the offer of a reward for "any case of catarrh not cured" by certain "curea," or "blood medicines." Nothing is said regarding the number of bottles required and therein lies the deception. The makers of Ely's Cream Balm, have never resorted to such devices. Cream Balm is an elegant preparation, agreeable to use, and immediate in its beneficial results. It cuges catarrh. You can rely upon tbe fact that it contains no mercury nor other injurious drug. 50 cts.

My left side was wholly useless and I could not feel it when a pin was thrust full length into iny leg or arm. On account of my heart trouble which was aggravated by this new disease, could not sleep and could be placed only none position—bolstered tip in a chair reclining slightly on my right side. Now the pnralv. sis affected my head and I would remain in that position asleep in the chair for weeks at a time without awakening. Words cannot express the misery I was in and the suffering I endured. All this time I consulted doctors and tried all kinds of patent medicines without receiving any benefit. I was doomed to a lingering death and was in despair. One day a paper was handed me (oread. In the paper 1 saw an account ofi

Hr. illiauis' Pink Pills for Pale People are an unfailing remedy for all diseases arising from a poor and watery condition of the blood, such as pale and sallow complexion, general muscular weakness, loss of appetite, depression of spirits, lack of ambition, anteniia, chlorosis or green sickness, palpitation of the heart, shortness of breath on slight exertion, coldness of bands or feet, swelling of the feet and limbs, pain in the back, nervous headache, dizziness, loss of memorv feebleness of will, ringing in the ears, early decay, all forms of female weakness, leucorrhiea, tardy or irregular periods, suppression of menses, hysteria, paralysis, locomotor ataxia, rheumatism, sciatica, all diseases depending on vitiated humors in the blood, causing scrofula, swelled glands, fever sores, rickets, hip-joint diseases, hunchback, acquired deformities, decayed bones, chronic erysipelas, catarrh, consumption of the bowels and lungs, and also for invigorating the blood and system when broken down by overwork, worry, diseases, excesses ond indiscretions of living, recovery from aeutc diseases, such as fevers, etc., loss of vital powers, sperinatorrhiea. early decay, premature old a-re. 1 liese pills are not a purgative medicine. They contain nothing that •mild injure he most delicate system. They act directly on the blood, supplying to the blood its life-giving qualities bv "assisting it to absorb oxygen, that great supporter of all organic life. In this way the blood, becoming "built up" and being supplied with its lacking constituents, becomes rich and red nourishes the various organs, stimulating them to activity in the performance of iheir functions, and thus to eliminate diseases from the system.
