Hrtid an employee o/ the Monon. if-t: Sunday, in reference to a new passenger depot for Craivfordsville: "That project hus blown over. There will be no de pot built here this year, or any other years, very t-oon. Those ea&t Main street people began to kick ju6t as Boon as it was proposed to build it on that thoroughofare. and that seemed to settle it. There is no other place aside from the one talked of, and that has now fallen through. Besides, the company don't care much whether it builds a new one or not, I think, and tho public will have to go to tho old ijuarters to gel on ar.u otf trains fur a long time yet. Tho Main street peoplo were foolish in this matter. It could not possibly have injured their property to have had the depot located there, but if anything would have improved it."

Dr. 0\v*lry A«uin. Dr. Owsley, tho genial gentleman, who furnished so much rich gossip to the neighborhood of Darlington, has again bobbed up serenely. The good doctor held a note of Dr. Ilillis for $250 and when Ilillis paid, Owsley recoipted him for the amount but did not deliver the note, claiming he had it in a Crawfordsville bank. Later, he sold this same note to D. \V. Yeagly, of this city, who presented it to Hillis for payment. Ilillis refused and suit was brought against him. The suit resulted favoiably to Ilillis. and Owsley failed to show up as a witness for Yeaeley. ft is rumored that this is not an unusual trick of the doctor's.

I*iwil*! The much-talked-of bloomers have already made their appearance in our midst. Last Saturday a crowd of Wabash students returning from a walk into the country, were frightened half to death by the sudden appearance round a corner of one of Orawfordaville's fair maids, wearing a moBt delicious pair of red knickerbockers. The boys soon recovered their wits sulliciently to salute her with a most prolonged. "Hoy (here!

Last Friday, Uncle Jerry Mote, of Darlington, who, like all good Hoosier farmers, loves the Haver of well smoked hams, but unfortunately possessed not the necessary smoke house wherein to that cure his meat, conceived the idea that a corner of his barn would serve as well.

Now, Jerry's bam was withal a tine one —well tilled with hay, aud oats, and corn, besides furniohing shelter for the good old family horse and the cow with the crumpled horn. But Jerry reckoned not of coming disaster, but carefully cleaning away the straw in one corner, and hanging to the long, low rafters, the fat hams and sides, he started a smoke. But alas for Jerry, and alas for Jerry's hams, the smoke developed into a blaze, and Saturday morning the town was aroused by Jerry's calls for assistance, but too late to save tho barn. The horse was released badly frightened but uninjured, and he alone, of all that the barn contained, remained to poor .Jerry. The loss on tho barn and contents amounted to some fioOO, and it is safe to predict that Jerry will eat beef this summer.

The Wabash College Base Ball Team went to Champaign Saturday last to play. A drenching raiu stopped the game after two innings were played The score at ttie end of the second inning was 5 to 0 in favor of Illinois. Four of these runs were mado after it had begun raining. The same teams play hen* to-day and Wabash stands a fair show of winning out unless that ancient streak of yellow shows itself again.

Mr. Fred .Miller, of Irving, 111., writes that he had a severe kidney trouble for many years, with severe pains in his hack and also that his bladder was affected. He tried many so-called kidney cures but without any good result. About a year ago he began the use of Electric Bitters and found relief at onoe. Electric Bitters is especially adapted to cure all kidney and liver troubles and often gives almost instant relief. One trial wil prove our statement. Price, only 50c. for large bottle.
