AtM4ufn or i«*t Ont. RT, REVIEW:--see in your last issue that some of the members of the Methodist church, at Yountsville. have been eet down on by the pastor of that congregation, for at tending a uance. ar.d that much complaint is made over it.
Now, why is it that persons join a church if they do not intend to live up to the 1»WP that govern the church? If the discipline of the Methodist church forbidB its members to dance, play cards and attend theaters, (as I ain told it IIOOBJ, they should abstain from those pleasures. Don't play the hypocrite. The gospel of .Jesus ChriFt says to keep yourselves unspotted from the world, and the Methodist discipline accords with this teaching. Vou can't be a Christian and indulge worldly pleasures. CHRISTIAN.

We promised your readers, in our last letter that if our minister continued to deal his wrath out upon our people, as he dill at tho ry commencement or the meetings, that we would write him up in this letter, but his discretion has proven the better part of valor. In conversing with him on those sermons, he says the people mistook his meaning: that he did not intend it in that way. If he can give words a different meaning to that, of Webster, we are at a loss our selves to understand him. Too proud to apologize in public and too stubborn to back down, he takes this mode to get out .jf his trouble. If this explanation will satisfy his hearers, we will not write him any further. We are a friend to the church, as in the pnet, and was simply after thi.-, preacher for the bad break he made on our people
