Himself—Did a Stranger at the Ladoga

Monon Station, Monday Afternoon

While the Agent Tnrned His BackOn Monday afternoon a stranger sought rent on the beautiful upholstered benches in the elaborate Monon. station at Ladoga. He was weary and closed bis pale blue oyes in peace tvhilo be prepumptionally wandered off into the land of Nod. flin sleep was a mistake he was playinp: 'possum. Thu depot agent now knows it at fearful cost For while he had occasion to leave his pest in looking after some shipments, the strange guest wroto out a personal invitatatiou to himself on the lining of his hat. and repaired to the ticket ortice to a one man's banquet. As the agent was very busy, he did not interrupt liim with an invitation, but carried on the affair in his own peculiar way. Ilo innocently opened the money till and abstracted therefrom, the sum of ?1 j0 in small ?hauge and several railroad tickets to Florida. Fielieviug the aamo to be a drawback to bis little entertainment, he took it off to some quiet spot for burial, but foul play is now feared as he never came back. The agent returned to his post and discovered a program of the concluded affair, in the shape of papers scattered all over the oflice lloor and everything topsy turvy.

Telegrams were immediately sent out in all directions, but the man has not been intercepted yet. The robbery was cominitted about -i o'clock, and war. onoof the boldest. Nothing was thought of the man's presence about the station as it has beet, a common thing for one to a dozen person: to gather about the place to loaf during the day. 11 ie safe to say. however, that the next tinin Mr. Agent goes out and leaves a stranger in waiting, he will not go, but will keep his best eye on the long green. We are not the only people who are blest with needy visitors, and tho one so obliging at Ladoga, may be of our gang and working his way south. If not captured,ho will suicide when he strikes Torre Haute. Let him go through and oblige all on the north of the line.

Danger From Catarrh.

The most important feature about that very common complaint, catarrh in the head, is its tendency to develop into some other more serious and dangerous disease. The foul matter dropping from the head into the bronchial tubes or lungs is very liaMe to lead to bronchitis or consumption, that destroyer which caiiccs more deaths in this country than any other disease. As catarrh originates in impurities in the blood, local applications can debut little good. The common serse. method of treatment is to purify the blood, and lor this purpose there is

Were the Bobbers V/hen They Attempted

to Again Pay Their Respects to the Hardware Btoreof Uohoon & Fisher.

While making the rounds Sunday" night, the burglars must have consider--ed it a part of their duty to again pay their respects to the hardware store of Messrs. Cohoon A Fisher, for they mado a heroic effort to do that very thing. At wbat hour of the night thoy mado their call is not known, but tt was in all probability before they were given tho run at other places. On Monday morning, the employees of that establishment found that the combination on the back door had been worked in eonie manner, but that the operators must nave been scared awa as thoy made no entrance to the place. An outside door gate had been opened and a large bar across tho inside doors had boen shoved from its. place. ..Tufat how the thieves accotuplished this, cannot be even guessed at. It vras cleverly done and all was in exact readiness for a campaign through, the store for plunder, when they took a sudden departure possibly from hearing some one about. Messrs. Cohoon St

Fisher have been the victims ot several midnight visits from unknowns, and I that ihis attempt was fruitless, is certainly a streak of good fortune. Thero aro a groat many other citizens who think they wore paid a haBty visit Sunday night, but none are known to a certainty. .Robbers are abundant this I season
