Two largo audiences greeted Rev. W. J. Eiowe at tho Christian church, Sunday morning and evening, to listen to his farewell Bermons. Having had a fine proposition otrered him to take charge of a church iu L«exir.gton, Ky., no will leave at once for that place a: also on account of his wife's heaMh whicij has been poorly since their dent:^ here. We regret to have brother Howe and his estimable wife go from us, but as it is to their advantage wo say let it be and offer our best wishes for the future.
Kntcrf aiiird. Through gome mistake we failed to make mention lor the delightful reception given by Postmaster Ed Voris and wife to about one hundred and fifty of their friends, at the beautiful West Main street home, on last Friday evening, in our last issue. The affair was one of the most enjoyable social happenings of the season and shall not soon be forgotten by those fortunate enough to be present. The homo was most beautifully decorated with chrysanthemums and carnations, and a tempting repast was served in courses. Tho guosts did not all depart until a late hour, and carried with them the highest esteem of Mr. and Mrs. Voris as entertainers.
Who (lave Him Awnyf Taylor Robbing, the L/afayotto jai
breaker, in giving in his osperience to the Lafayette Courier said: "I got off the train in tho hills this side of Crawfordsville and hobbled to town. The first man I met knew me and I began to give up hope. My leg was terribly swollen and I went to the house of the only friend I had there to have it attended to. That is what caused my arrest the man I first met gave me away, I think, and I was caught. If you think for a a moment that I enjoyed my freedom you aro badly mistaken."
