Tlie Exploit* of Two Young School ToacljCTN.

A species of courage, 'heightened somewhat by the necessity of prompt action no doubt, was shown by a couple of young ladies of this city one day last week. The goal of their ambition was to teach school this winter. The laudablo desire to aid a widowed mother in the support of the family urged the one on. while the other, although being blessed with parents in easy circumstances, wished to bring her recently acquired education into practical use. They had almost despaired of being able to obtain a school this year, as all but two townships wero supplied, when word came to them that just two teachers were yet needed in one of the remote townships of the couuty.

Now was theii opportunity. Quickly harnessing up a team of ponies with their own deftly hands, they wero soon testing the speed of the horses on a thirty-live mile drive to see tte township Trustee. The hour was 9 o'clock a.

drove triumphantly into town sadly begrimed with dust, bur happy in tile assurance that they had both obtained schools and would open the following Monday.

It so happened that the parents of tie ono who furnished the team for their rather romantic ride were in Indianapolis attending the State fair. It was highly important that she confer with them.

Uhen the liig Four train pulled in at Plum street station she was there in waiting, neatly and comely attired in a traveling suit that has been exchanged for the dusty habit of ono hour ago. She had the street address of the friends with whom her parents were visiting, but that was all. She had no chaperon, but she had nerve. Upon her arrival at Indianapolis she asked a Union station policeman to kindly escort her to the proper streetcar.

Au Electric Railway Pomttlblo for C'rnwforilsTillc.

For the present Montgomery county's electric railway is only on paper. This much can be said of it, however, and that is that the 6chome is a feasible ono and is already claiming the attention of capitalists. That the line will eventually be built, there is little doubt.

A gentloman who represents unlimited capital, and whoso business it is to look up suitable fields for tho establishment of such enterprises was in tho city this week. Ho was shown about the city by A. F. Ramsay and to him oxpressed the opinion that there was an opening hero for such a lino.

Upon just what plans or what exact territory the system would en brace can not be yet given. It has boon suggested that should tho raiiroads unite in building a union station at tho Junction, tho lino would begin at that point and after traversing the route indicated by a former compauy run to a public park adjacent to the city. A proposed line to the Shades has also received considerable attention. Our visitor expressed tho belief that with a lino to that point a number of summer hotels there .vould pay handsome returns. Tho classic hills and romantic haunts of Sugar Creek are claiming wide spread attention, the Shades coining in for the largest share of the glory.

There is one other feature of a line to the Shades thai presents practical claims. Ripley township is the only one in tho county without a railroad. Some means of traffic other than that provided by the wagon roads is needed. Since a railroad does not seem practical, as has been proven by repeated efforts. anj| electric line would cortainly afford an acceptable compromise. At least, the matter is worthy of some consideration. It would largely depend wo presume. upon whether tho topography of the county would admit of the construction of such a line. It might bo well for tho good people of Ripley township to investigate the matter, and if found practical Hit* line should receive proper encouragement.

Tho gentlemen who were appointed to settle questions relating to the election of township trustees and assessors have made their report to Chairman Tagart and Uowdy. It is as follows: "Dear Sirs—Tho undersigned to whom were referred cortain questions relating to tho eloction of township trustees and assessors report that we have considered said questions and have come to the following conclusions: "The regular term of theso offices begins on the tirst Monday of August, lSU.j. It will be necessary to nominato candidates for tho regular term of each office in every township, and to designate such candidates on the tickets as for tho term beginning tho lirst Monday of August, 189.").' "In addition in every township in which either of said offices is now heltl by appointment to till a vacancy it will bo necessary to elect a successor to tho incumbent. The person so olocted will only be entitled to hold tho otlice until tho lirst Monday of August. IS!)."}. "To obviate tho inconvenience and derangement of public business, which would result from a change of officers for the short time before the beginning of the regular term, we recommend that persons now holding by appointment should be nominated for the short term by the parties to which they respectively belong and designated on tho tickot as candidates, for tho term ending the first Monday of August, 1805.' and that no opposing nominations bo made. "We think we ought to suggest that tho same persons should not in any case bo nominated for township trustee for both tho short aud long terms, by reason of the statutory provision that 'no person shall bo eligible to the office

High Government Authority.

No authority of greater experience on food products exists than Dr. Henry A. Mott, v: New York. Dr. Mott's wide experience as Government Chemist for the Indian Department, gave him exceptional opportunities to acquaint himself with the qualities and constituent parts of baking powders. He understands thoroughly the comparative value of every brand in the market, and has from time to time expressed his opinion thereof. On a recent careful re-examination and analysis he finds

Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder

superior to all others in strength, purity, and efficiency. Dr. Molt writes New York, March 20th, 1894.

I find Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder to be superior to a!! others, for the following reasons 1st. It liberates the greatest amount of leavening gas and is consequently more efficient. 2nd: The ingredients used in its preparation are of the purest character.

Its keeping qualities are excellent.

On account of the purity of the materials and their relative proportions, Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder must be considered the acme of perfection as regards wholesomeness and efficiency, and I say this having in mind certificates I have given several years ago respecting two other baking powders.

The reasons for the changfe in my opinion, are based on the above facts and the new method adopted to prevent your baking powder from caking and deteriorating in strength.
