On iast Saturday night, Marcli 10. J. It. Vancleave gave a tally pulling, it being his oist birthday. About 'iO people were present and gooil music was furnished. They [lulled wax and the stickiest time ever heard of was had. If a fellow got close to his girl he never got away.

James Drake, our drug store man, has sold his store to Aaron Eayton and moved it into the new brick room of Shelby's, lt is a nice store room.
J. 11. Parker has the grippe. It is strango how the grippe acts on some and how different on others. Some are having it now that 1 ave never had it before, and it seems to go pretty hard with them.
The Christian Endeavor Society held ifs first meeting on last Sunday night and Frank Elston presided. Eleven more were added to the roll, making 31 in all and there will be moro come into the Endeavor.
There have been some pcoplo sowing oats this week and last, and they are not sowed too early to make a good crop, but we do not know of anyone plantim: potatoes or early corn yet. but they will Boon bo in the ground in places.
Our town wants a clothing store, tin shop, millinery store, a printing press and a lot of boys that lay around the car repairing shop and play cards, swear and make unbecoming remarks about men. They will have to mend their ways or some of tl em may get a chance to learn a trade free, at the reform school,
Fred Thomas, the water works man on the Clover Leaf R. was at home last Tuesday nitrht lit says business on the road is picking up. as a through freight train kept ahead of the passenger train on Tuesday and beat it into Frankfort. The freight was loaded with meat from Phil Armour's Mranch of his butcher shops in Kansas City and was bound for the east, making faster time than the passenger train, which was going the same direction.

The Musical Amateur's Entertainnieut. With a few naore entertainments like that gi en at Center church on Mond evening, the Musical Amateurs can change tneii name. Something suggestive of artistes would be more appropriate. The numbers on the program were all exceedingly well rendered. The one deserving special mention wan the cantata, "Summer," in which the full choruB of twenty-four voir e& appeared. The ladies all acquitted themselves nicely ami were generously applauded by tho large audience present.
