While loading horses at the Vandaba depot on Monday. Will Friar, who was holding a string of horses, was badly injured by the animals becoming frightened at a switch engine aud stampeding. The horses trampled Will under foot and fractured his skull, besides causing other bodily injuries. The horses were being shinped by Harry Law.

Tho death of Charles Rossiter from Brights' disease occurred at the Bobbins House Sunday afternoon. The funeral services wero conducted in the hotel parlors on Tuesday at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. R. S. Inglis. Mr. Roesiter was 44 years of ago and began life as a commercial traveler. During his connection with the Robbins House he made many friends. The remains wero taken to VanWert. Ohio for interment.

As there has been uo lire 111 or around the building for mouths the only conclusion the tireiuen could reach was that the lire, like the others at the Fair grounds recently "as started by incendiaries. Wreckers have been at work tearing down the building for some time. All the Mooring had been removed, and in tact there was little if anything left standing but the stafl'ncascd shell. 1 he loss, therefore, was nominal. Four thousand dollars worth of lumber was destroyed, but the loss will not fall on the South park commissioners- Sloau Co. receutly purchased the structure for ii.or.o. .•••!
The fire was discovered ly a park policeman and an arm was turned in al. af_':Mi p. rn. The blaze started in the southeast corner of the building and was confined to the east end. which was destroyed. A brisk" southeast wind was blowing and the whole building was threatened. The east, end was blazing briskly. and the flames were sweeping rapidly along the remnants of the roof toward the center, but the work of the firemen proved effective. In a few minutes sifter the engines got to work the tire was under control, and by 3:30 o'clock there were only smoldering embers left. The fire was drowned out. Experience has taught the liremen how to fight a World's Fair blaze. Axes were brought into play, holes were cut. through the staff shell in advance of the flames and a stream dirocted through the opening made abort work of it.
Four of t.ho firemen barely escaped death when the fire was at its height. Lieut. Prow, with Firemen James liallagher. John Nolan and Linnebai'L'er of Company 71. had taken a load of lioso up on the roof as near as they could get to the flames. The frail structure was already tottering. Marshal O'Malley saw their danger and shouted to them to come down. They ran for their lives toward a stairway. .lust, as they got out of harm's way the whole east end of the building. including the part where tliev had been working, fell in with a crash. The crowd that had been watching the four men in suspense sent up a cheer when it saw they had escapei'

The courtroom was crowded to suffocation last night by the unemployed workmen of this oi. who met to devise ways and means to bring an end to the long period of enforced idleness The discussion assumed a wide range, but no definite plan was adopted. A largo number of resolutions were adopted, demanding that work be furnished them. The meeting also adopted a resolution declaring that workmen should be paid full wages and that eight hours should constitute a full day's work.
