To the surprise and gratification, no doubt, of relatives and numerous friends here in Crawfordsville and throughout the State, Gen. M. D. Mansion was on last Sunday taken in full membership of the Methodist Church. The General is now. we behove, in tho 7.th year of a life that, has been full of in any incidents in the political and military tield. No man ir. the State of Indiana is so widely known, nor is there one who has warmer friends., lie is rapidly becoming enfeebled with age and feels, no doubt, that his years on earth cannot but bo few, and that if he desired to "make his calling and electionsure" the time could not be much ioiigerdelayed. His thousands of friends every whore will encour age him in assuming this new relation to the world will believe him to be thoroughly sincere, and trust that his example at this late period in his life will be wholesome, beneficial and far reaching in its inlluence.
