Alexander Martin D. D. L. L. D. died of pneumonia at his home in Greencastle last Saturday. He was president of DePauw University for fourteen years, and one of the prominent church workers of this country. He was 71 years of age.
At their meeting on Monday the township trustees decided that all teachers employed in the schools of the county drew pay on New Years. The holiday vacation began yesterday evening and will continue until Jan. 2d.
At the meeting of the board of trustees of Wabash college last week, three courses of etudy were adopted instead of two. as heretofore. The new course is known as the literary-philosophical leading to the degree of Ph. B.
M. E. Clodfelter was appointed special judge in the second suit of Dronberger vs. Staley and Laftin. The first 6uit, in which the plaintiff, was badly worsted, waB for injury to business, and the second was for injury to character.
Mrs. Margaret Hester died last Friday at the home of her son.in law, M. V. Sidener, one mile south of the city. She had reached tho advanced age of 90 years, and death came as a relief to a life so long devoted to good deeds to those about her. The funeral occurred on Sunday, and interment at Parkersburg.
