Democratic Meeting. -.
By direction of the democratic State Central Committee, mass conventions will be held at tho county seats of the different counties of the State on Saturday, December 30, 1893, at 10:30 o'clock a. m., for the purpose of electing delegates to district conventions to bo held January 8, 1894, to elect members of the State Central Committee for the ensuing two years.
The basis of representation in these conventions as fixed by the State ilix -©cutive Committee at a meeting at the Grand hotel.at Indianapolis, Ind., Nor22d, 1893, is one de'egate for each 200 votes or fraction of 100 or over, cast for the Hon. Claude Matthews for Governor in 1892.

There were no recitations at tho college yesterday except in Peck's hall. A steam pipe bursted on Thursday night and shut off tho supply of heat from the ce.ntrul and south building.
A festival and fair was held bv the ladies of the First church at the church parlors Thursday and Friday evenings of this week. A novel attraction was a splendid reproduction of an orange grove, boautifully arranged in the Sunday school room, The weather was inclement, but fair receipts were taken in each evening.
The board of commissioners were in special session yesterday to consider the aoceptence of the substructure of the Jim bridge from the hands of contract or Waugh. Two points were to be considered. First as to whether the new stone used by contractor was of the proper character. The second point was whether all of the stone removed from tho old abutments and fit to enter the new had been used.
The case of Dronsberger vs. Staley, of the Frankfort Crescent, for libel, and claiming damages to the extent of 810,000 was heard in Judge Harney's court yesterday, on a change of venue. The case went to the jury late in the evening. R. P. DavidsoD, of Lafayette, and Lawyer Bristons of Frankfort, appeared for the plaintiff, while Senator Kent, of Frankfort, and Frank Moore, of Chatnooga, Tenn., took care of the defendant.

A mass convention of tho democrats of Montgomery county will be hold at the court liouso on Saturday, Dec. 30. Tho object ol' the conventioa is to select delegates to the 8th district convention at Terr'i Haute on Jan. 8,'91. There should be a rousing good attendance.
Frank Abraham will be the secretary of tho Relief Association at a salary of SO per week. He will have charge of the headquarters of the association in the Y. M. C. A., building, where douations in tho way of clothing and eatables left will be given out whero most needed. It will aleo be headquarters for the various committees of the association.
Four dizzy blondes were taken in by Officer Gill on north Green street Sunday night and assigned quarters in tho jail to sober up. Mayor Bandel assessed tho proper linos the next morning, but their importunities to aforetime friends to come to their rescue being unheeded, they were sent back to jail to servo time and take board at tho public's expense.
At tho semi-monthly meeting of tho city council Monday night, Dr. Hutchings, city health officer, made a report of hiB investigations relating to the typhoid fover cases in the vicinity of the Junction. Ho say9 that in nearly every cate the patient had used well or cistern water for drinking purposes. But one case came under his observation where hydrant water iB used. It seems to be the almost universal opinion of physicians that typhoid fever results from the use of impure drinking water.

Miss Pearl, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cash. Fry diod at 3 o'clock on lliuisday morning after a little over ono week ^illness. The funeral services occurred yesterday. Pearl was twenty years of age and her demise enlists tlio sympathy of alt for tho bereaved family.
Death of Win. H. Snyder-
At 0 o'clock Tuesday morning Wm. II. Snjdor, oldest 6on of Mr. aud Mrs. Jerre Snyder, died at his home two miles west of the city, after a little over one week's illness of grippe, which deloveloped into typhoid pneumonia. Until he was taken down ho was strong and rugged and appaaently in tho best of health. It is indeed a sad affliction to the wife and four children to havo tho husband and father cut off in the prime of well developed manhood and with the prospect of a prolonged and useful life before him. Billy, as he was so well known was 30 years of age. Tho sympathy of tho entire community goes'* out to tho bereaved family in this sad hour. Tho deceased was one of the main stays of Mount Zion church, and served the Sunday school in tho capacity of superintendent, Ho was a member of Montgomery lodge I. O. O. F. of this city and was serving in the capacity of Noble Guard at tho time of his death. Inc order had chargo of the burial servicee. Tho funeral services occurred at the residence at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon conducted by Eld. Nyo and Dr. Tucker. The interment was in Oak Hill.
