United States there are 65,000 of those, offices. The working capacity of the department is 1,000 appointments per week, so that working day and night all of them could not be tilled in a year's time. Mr. Brookshire is confident that whon Congress convenes in August the Inancial question will be settled and confidence restored.
The Fayerweather Will Oase Asraia. There was another argument last! week before Surrogate Ransom in the litigation over the millions of Daniel B. Fayerweather. It was upon the distribution of about $2,-5000,000 which tho executors are to distribute under the doed of gift in the millionaire's will to tho colleges and institutions which are named by the will. A small army of lawyers was present. The question to be decided is whether the Surrogate can enter decree allowing the executors to distribute tho 92,500,000 while tho litigation is still pending in the Supreme Court to set aside the residuary clause of the will. It was argued in opposition that not only is the Supreme Court litigation etill pending, but a new suit has been brought against the executors by Amherst, Darmouth, Hamilton and Williams colleges and the University of Rochester, which seek an adjudication of the residuary clause of the will. It was also held that the trust created by Mr. Fayerweather is illegal and that the doed of gift is not valid under the Jaws of this State. If this is true the residue will goto the heirs. The hearing was adjourned.— New lork Preso.

Chicago is getting most of the surplus money now. Thousands of persons all over the laud are saving their monpy for the trip to Chicago during the World's Fair. Thousands of dollars are pouring into that city from this State. Sotue estimates are being mado of tho amount contribute^ by various localities. If 2,000 persons from this county visit the fair during the six months it is held a sum averaging S2o to each persou will bo spent for the trip ThiR is 8.")0,000 from Montgomery county alone. Now other counties within 150 to 200 miles of Chicago in adjoining states will probably average an equal expenditure and many of them much more. 1 10m this it will be seen how the money is rolling into Chicago and why numbersof persons will complain of a shortage of funds at home.
