TYLERIZING.
Thoro aro very good indications that Cleveland to a considerable extent, will do tlie Tylerizing act while his administration is in power. After President Harrison died in 1841 ho was succeeded by Vice President Tyler. Tyler went against the views of his party in many things, and by his actions greatly aided in givinjj the democracy the subsequent administration of JameB K. Polk, His party detested him for his alleged treachery, and the only political friends he had appeared to be the democrats, although he had been elected on the trreat platform of "Tippecanoe and Tyler too.'' It would appear to an outsider, that Cleveland in the probable selection of Grcshatu, a republican office-holder almost from the existence of his party, and a very young recruit iu the rankB of the democracy, was getting ready to do tho Tyler act. It is out of all precedeLt, and should not bo made—tho appointment of Gresham. It makes no diflerence what may bo his fitness and ability. The party that elected Cleveland has never been of Gresham's way of thinking, acting and voting. But Gresham's appointment iB not likely tho only thing Cleveland will surprise his party with. IIo is just bull headed and self willed enough, now that ho is elect ed and for the last timo, to do many surprising things and many of which will do the party no good but much harm. We do not believe in donating the loaves and fishes to this or that man who has only lately ceased to affiliate with tho opposition. Let him remain on probation for a season. Reward those who have borne the heat and burden of the day first—tbe men who have continued to lo democrats through good and evil report, in sunshine and shade, year in and year out.
1 in". French plan of punishing well-to do persons who have been guilty of crimes is very different from that in vogue in this Country. DeLesseps, the originator of the Panama canal, and KilTol, the tower man. both well fixed financially, the latter, we belive, being a millionaire, have both been sentenced to ihe penitentiary for two years anil to pay a heavy line for swindling in connection with the Panama business by which thousands of poor people lost all their money. How would it have been in this country? Does anybody ever remember to have known the time when a millionaire in this country went to the penitentiary, although guilty of the same crimes that the poorer classes have been punished for?
IF Cleveland wishes to recognize the element that did most to piomote his election, he should give a Cabinet office to some stay-at-home republican.—Journal.
If ho did this it would not seem half as nonsensical and impolitic as were the appointments of Long6treet, Mosby and many other prominent ex-confederateB to responsible positions of the government by Grant so soon as their "loyalty" to tho republican parly waB avowed.
A Wonderful Statement, Proprietors of Dullam's Great Germ an Remedies.—Gfntlkmen -I hare for the past two years been troubled with a sorious and very severe liver and Btomach difficulty. Sick headache is not altogether a nervous difficulty. Get your stomacn and bowels in normal action by taking Molol and you will tbank us for the advice.
Let's reason together. Here's a firm, one of tho largest the country over, the wu.-id over it has grown, step by step, through the years to greatness—and it sells patent medicines!- ugh! "That's enough!"—-
What a little— This firm pays tho nowspapers good money (expensive work, this advertising!) to tell the people that they have faith in what they Bell, so much faith that if they can't benefit or euro they don't want your money. Ther guarantee is not indefinite and relative, but definite and absolute—if the medicine doesn't help, your money is "on call."
Suppose every sick man and every feeble woman tried these medicines and found them worthless, who would be the loser you or thoy?
Tho medincines are Dr. Pierce's "Golden Medical Discovery," for blood diseases, and his "Favorite Prescription," for woman's peculiar ills. If they help toward health, they cost $1.00 a bottle each! If they don't, they cost you nothing!
