WantB George To Whack Up. Thnre is an old saw which says something about "old fools b'ing the worst of fools." In just how many instances this adage holda good we arc unablo to eay^ but -.to are confident it (its in a greut many cases. Last March George Nichols, a gray haired veteran living near Linden, led to the altar a widow upon whose brow Father Titiii had planted many furrowH. The honeymoon of this ancient pair was of decidedly short duration, for at the end of six mouths George suddenly grew desperately tired of his blooming bride and parking his "'grip" left the old lady to hustle for herself. lining old anil feeble and alone in the word Mrs. Nichols found herself unable to keep the gaunt wolf from the door. Her house rent is 'ong past due, her fuel has given out and last but not least her credit .t the local stores has become exhausted. The lack of the necessaries of life, together with the mental anguish caused by her husband's cruel desertion has shattered the old lady's nervous system and prostrated her. She alleges that George is possess cd of fully fcl,r00 worth of personal property and proceeds to enumerate his worldly possessions. She don't: watt a divorce because tliat would only t?nd to gratify George. She thinks that Father Time has given her a ten years lease on life and that it will require about $100 per annum surround her with the ordinary comforts or life. She there fore prays the court for an order authorizing her to sell this property, collect the proceeds therefrom together with all proper relief. Henry D, Vaucleave appearn for hrr.
Tom Goes Prae.
Speaking of the Tom (JHIH CUB? tliat was venued to Clinton county, last week the Frankfort News says:
Cain will get a fair trial in thin county and the verdict will be in accord with the law and the evidence. In this county persona charged with crime are not tried anil convicted at the bar of public opinion, but in court before an intelligent jury and an impartial manner. In this case if your man is guilty we advine you to employ a Frankfort lawyer, one who knows how to make out a ease, and not a Crawfonlsviiie blacksmith, and whatever you do furnish some &videneo of the man's guilt. This court presumes the accused innocent until proven guilty. Don't forget this fac*.
We have often wondered why our criminals have looked on the Clinton county court, as little nhort of a pariilise. When a man commits a crime here ho immediately be^s the court to sernd his case to Frankfort because ho knows in that, court lie will be set at iiberty. We were never able to fathom the cause beiore. but the above clippinT makos it all clear. Ueeause Prosecutor MofTett doesn't tako in one or two of« their "plug" lawyers to assist him that thesb cadaverous creatures mi^ht ^et a pull on Montgomery county's cash boar, they not- their r^vengft by turning our prisoners, loose. For shame iren'iemon.

He was constantly in trouble while here and tiuaMy wound up by serving a term in the Michigan City penitentiary for larceny.
