"Friday" Ulark as a Pugilist. Friday Clark of this city who makes some pretentions to prize fightiug sparred with McAuliffe, tho middle weight champion, at Indianapolis Monday night, of which tho Sentinel says:
Friday Clark, who is to fight Jim Johnson at Mozart hall on Dec. 22, put on the gloves with McAuliffe and a spirited threo round contest was the consequence. Clark showed that he did not lack nerve and had more than a little science, but tho eminent superiority of the champion was everywhere apparent, and he, of course, did as he liked with his amateur opponent.
•New Trial Refused.
Tuesday at Grecncastle Judge McGregor refused to grant James 11. iStarke a new trial in the case in which Knuna Conner got 81,000 judgement against him for
Flander.
Judgment was
rendered against him and an execution will he made on his personal property at once, his farm being in his wife's name. Judge McGregor stated in giving judgment that Starke had pursued the plaintiff in a most malicious anil evil way and fully merited the verdict of thojury.
The Divorce Market.
Alice Greenway has tiled suit for a divorce from her husband, James R. Greenway, on tho grounds of habitual drunkenness and desertion.
Mrs Mattie Newland, through her attorneys, Kennedy & Kennedy, has brought suit in the circuit court for a legal separation from her unfaith ful lord, David Newland, and wants the custody of their child, Mattie alleges cruel treatment and failure to provide.
The Brown-Watkins Mill Suit. Tho suit of tho First National Bank vs. J. W. McKeen ot al., involving tho insurance paid on the old Brown-Wat-kins mill was settled by compromise on Wednesday last. The bank receives by the compromise $5,000 of the insurance and the old mill property, tho McKeene receiving $2,000.
Grand Mask Ball-
The members of tho Crawfordsvillo Cornet Band will give a Mask Ball on Thursday evening, Dec, 29th and invite their friends to participate in the pleas, urea of the dance on that occasion. The ball will be given at the P. O. S. of A. II all.
