Albert Ames and Miss Minta Goben wero married at the home of the bride's father, Jesse W. Goben, north of the city, Thursday evening in tho presence of about one hundred inviteed guests, Rev. John L. Miller ofliciating. After tho ceremony an elegant spixft was sorved. Mr. and Mrs. Ameo are among the best known young people in the county and begin a very promising life with the best wishes of all.
To Contest the Election.
It is altogether probable that Sheriff Bible and Frank Wren will contest the election of Davis and Munhall. It is known that there were at least fifteen or twenty illegal republican votes cast in tho county but as yet there has been no definite action taken.

Hon. E. V. Brookshire wont to Ladoga yesterday afternoon. Mr. Brookshire, physically, is in a bad condition He has a very violent attack of la grippe and when in tho open air experiences great difficulty in breathing. He will remain in Ladoga until liehas thoroughly recovored.
Miss Martha Sparks, a belle in the elito society of the north end, was run in Wednesday night for appearing on the streets in a bea6tly state of intoxication. After sobering off in Sheriff Bible's sanitarium over night Mayor Bandle excused her on the promise of future good behavior.
Prof. Griniey, whose pitable effort at a baloon ascension in this city last Fourth of July is still green in the memory of those who waited and watch ed in vain, was arrested in RockYillo this week on a charge of stealing and his chances for a trip over tho road are most excellent.

While returning from the Ames— Goben wedding Thursday night Jack Baldwin and Bob Goben were severely scratched and bruised by the overturn ing of their buggy. They were near the residence of Jim Coleman and were driving rapidly when the vehicle struck a stump and was upset. The occupants were very fortunate to escape with their lives. Oscar Rogers was fined $15 by Judge Harney Tuesday morning on a grand jury indictment charging him with assault and battery. Oscar is now doing time with Sheriff Bible.

The Big Four lines, the Peoria & Eastern not included, earned in the second week of October $347,673, an increase over the corresponding week of 1881 of $30,059. Indications now are that the Big Four lines will this month make the largest passenger and freight earnings of any month since tho consolidation was effected.
