John M. Schultz has been appointed guardian of the minor heirs of Peter McClaskey.

The November term of court began last Monday, but owing to the election but little has been done.

The DePauw foot ball team defeated the Wabash eleven at Greencastle last Saturday by a score of 42 to 4.

John Sullivan was arrested Munday for assaulting Enoch Miller in Peters beer emporium on Market street.

ITie members of the fire department will give a grand masque ball at the 1. O. S. of A. armory on Thanksgiving night.

George Watkins, Wallace Coons, Chester Britton, Howard Seargent and George Hall came down from Chicago to vote.

The dedication of the handsome cross at Calvary cemetery last Sunday was attended with unusual pomp. The Knights of St. John headed by the Crawfordsville band, attended in uniform.

The Wabash foot ball team was again defeated. This time it was by DePauw team. It is possible the Wabash team might make a good showing in a game of hat ball or mumbly peg, but foot bail is out of its class undoubtedly.

Calvin Heath is lying at the point of death. He has been a sufferer for many years and is now prostrated from the effects of a tumor upon his side and hip which has sluffed during the last few days leaving largo holes. Gangreen is setting in and all hope of recovery is lost.—Waynetown Hornet.

Two of our citizens propose to drill for gas on the John Jackman property or near there. Tho lead is a good one and if old established signs do not fail gas will bo found. The vein has been traced by experts from Kempton, and trends west to north-west of Crawfordsville .'J to 4% miles.—Darlington Echo.

Prof. A. N. Higgins, who has been at Denver, Col., for some months for his health, returned home on Friday of last week, looking improved in health.
