To Prevent the Grip.
Or any other similar epidemic, the blood and the whole system should be kept in healthy condition. If you feel worn out or have "that tired feeling" in the morning do not be guilty of neglect. Give immediate attention to yourself. Take Hood's Sarsaparilla to give strength, purify the blood and prevent disease.
Hood's Pills cure liver ills, jaundice, billiousnoss, sick headacho, constipation.
When catarrh attacks a person of scrofulous diathesis, the disease is almost sure to become chronic. The only efficacious cure, therefore, is Ayer's Sersaparilla, which expels scrofula from the system and tho catarrh soon follows suit. Local treatment is only a waste of time.
Nearly half a century of uninterrupted success in tho cure of cough, cold and incipient consumption has given to Dr. Bull's Cough Syrup, a reputation not possessed by any other similar remedy. It is a sovereign cute for all diseases of the throat and chest.

Tuesday night a married man from Crawfordsville drove to Ladoga in company with a lady not his wife. While hero his horse ran away and tho buggy struck the hitching post in front of W. B, Gill's residence. Next day a Crawfordsville attorney came down to investigate the matter. It is claimed that the hitching post is too far out in tho street, but some drivers under certain conditions find all streets top narrow.— Ladoga Leader.
Imagine if you please the surprise of Treasured Smith and his deputies when Harry Crawford, sr., of the Chicago & South-Eastern, stepped into the county Treasurer's office Monday afternoon and laid down $1,000 on the road's delinquency for taxes, with the assurance that the total indebtedness will be wiped out at the end of thirty days. It (the money, not the promise) almost took John Donalson's breath. It is the firdt time the road has ever j^iid to our coun ty.—Lebanon Pioneer.

An Erring Wife Causes Trouble. There was a lively affray on Salem and Twelfth streets shortly after noon to-day between two colored men, one from this eity and the other from Crawfordsville. Yesterday the Crawfordsville'gentleman shot at tho Lafayette without hitting him. and to-day the Lafayette man returned the compliment with the saiuo result. Tho Crawfordsville man, however, was badly frightened, took to his heels, went through an alley into the house of a family named Norris, frightening the family by running through the house, out into the street and made bis escape. The Lafayette man is John Luster, and is in tho employ of Wm. Wallace, but the name of the Crawfordsville man could not be learned. Luster says the Crawfordsvillian attempted to shoot him and he tired to protect himself. Intense excitement prevails in that part of town over the affair. Officer King discovered the Crawfordsville darkey perched upon the roof of a barn between Wall and Main streets and captured him. Ho was brought to the police station a'nd there gave his name as Wm. Wedders. Wedders claimed that Luster had enticed his (Wedders") wife, whom he had met down there during tho I. O. O. F. banquet, to accompany him here. Luster was fined $33.50 and Wedders was allowed to go free and prosecute the search for his wife whom he found a few hours later.—Lafayette Journal.

The Wilhite damage suit against the Clover Leaf rail road for $10,000 came to an abrupt but not unexpected close in the circuit court Saturday morning. When the plaintiff's testimony was finished on Friday it was evident that there was no case against the company and that if the jury found a verdict the judee would set it aside, consequently when court convened Saturday morning Mr. Paul arose and dismissed the case. The costs will be taxed up against the plaintiff.
Shoemaker's Sorrow.
Henry C. Shoemaker, through his attorneys, White, Humphreys & Reeves, has filed suit for divorce from his wife, Stella. In his complaint Hemy alleges that Stella left his bed and board one chilly night last October, that for several weeks prior to that she had boen criminally intimate with one, Charles Coon, which in the plaintiff's mind was no way for a wife to treat a husband. Quite right, Ilonry, the Judge should hear your prayers.

The creamery which was established in this city about 18 months ago, closed down for good on Saturday. The bus iness from the start has not paid, and Waterberry. Clodfelter, McCoy and others who have sought to run it liav lost .money. Grcxham, Schura, KacVeagh, McCullougli Judge Gresham, Wayne MacVeagli Carl Scliurz and Hugh McCullough are four ex-Republican candidate officers who are now supporting Grover Clove land. Scliurz and MacVeagh were in Hayes' cabinet, McCullough served un der three presidents, Lincoln, Johnson and Arthur. Gresham served under Arthur, first as postmaster general, then secretary of the treasury. All these former prominent Republicans have joined the Democratic party on account of the tariff policy of tlid Republican party. They see in the McKinley tariff a dangerous club in the hands of plutocracy. When such men as Gresham leave the the Republican party, it means something. There are 1,000 who hjkve left the high tariff party, whose names have not been hurled to the world because they are not of national reputation. But their votes next November will effect the result largely to the disadvantage of the Republican party. In this state four prominent men are now stamping for Cleveland, who, four years ago made speeches for Harrison. John Overmyer, of Jennings county, who in 1882 was chairman of the Republican state committee D. P. Baldwin, of Logansport, who was elected attorney general by the Republicans in 1880 William D. Foulke, a leader of the Republicans in the senate of 1883 and 1885 ex-Attorney General Williamson, of Green Castle, were all on the stump for Harrison in this and other states four years ago. This year they have lifted up their voices in behalf of Grover Cleveland because the McKinley tariff has driven them out of the party in which they have been reared.
