Deafness Cannot be Cured
by local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the earThere is only one way to cure Deafness, and that is by constitution remediesDeafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces.
We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free.

The ground in which the Mastodon's remains are imbeded belong to Mr. I. F. Wade of this city, who appears in no hurry to have them taken out, although money could have been made by their removal and exhibition since they were discovered last spring.
It is just one month from to-day until the presidential election, and yet a quieter campaign has never been known than that of this year. No torch-light processions, no uniformed companies, few hurrahs for Cleveland, Harrison or Weaver, are seen or heard' in fact the people do not seem to care what way the result may go.

Eddie Tolbert's Fun.
Sunday of last week Eddio Talbert came up from Crawfordsville, ostensibly for the purposo of visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity, so on his arrival here he made his way to the country home of Jeffrey Horner, Bome two miles south-east of here. Here he was received with open arms for he had not been to see them for some time, and he was given a great many liberties— more in fact than he will again bo given. He stayed around all day the following Monday, doing nothing, however, that would create the impression that 1^ would steal. But, it seems, that on Tuesday morning he put in execution the scheme he had probably been laboring on for many days previous to his coming and while the family were temporarily absent from tho household, doing the usual morning chores, Eddio donned Truman's best Buit of clothes, put a couple of gold watches in his pockets for good measure and skipped out across the country to his uncle's, a man named Baswell, residing about midway between this city and Frankfort. Here he Btruck it richer than ever. The family being gone from home, he gained access to the house in some manner and ransacting things generally run across $200 in clean cash, secreted somewhere in a bed. This he also devoted to himself, going from there to Colfax, where ho hired a rig and was driven to Clark's Hill. Here he entered a saloon, set up the drinks to the house, making a flash of what he had and stating that he had plenty of money. Ho also telegraphed ahead to Frankfort for the ticket agent there to have him a ticket written out direct to Washington, but it seems that after he got to Frankfort he changed his mind, and instead went to Pittsburgh, Pa. No trace could be found of him until late Wednesday following, when it was learned he was on his way to Pittsburgh, and tho authorities telegraphed ahead to the police in that city and he was accordingly nabbed on
The Edward's Estate.
The heirs in the Edwards estate, of which so much has been written, are now in a fair way on their journey toward "Easy Street." Wm. Edwards, of Greensburg, S. 0., was at Dayton, O., the other day and
Btatod
that he has in
his possession a certified copy of tho record of the original lease, signed by Queen Victoria herself, which he had gone to England to procure this summer. For the copy of tho record Mr, Edwards was compelled to pay S150, as the laws of England make this source of revenue to the Crown very exorbitant, Mr. Edwards says that the way in which he discovered that he is one of the heirs is very peculiar. While looking over an old family Bible he found the original lease. Mr. Edwards says that Colonel Ingersoll has offered to pay the sum of $250,000,000 to the various heirs in the United States for a settlement in full of all claims.
Sunday Drunkards.
Numbers of men were seen half drunk on Sunday staggling in and out of the back part of the premises on which saloons were located, and few or no policemen in sight. Mayor Bandel was around looking for a policeman but found it difficult to catch one. Speaking of the matter an old citizen, a republican by tho way too, remarked. "There's too much politics in tho business. The police fear tho future influence at elections of the saloon men If they arrest them and have them fined they fear the saloon men will come back at them at the next election and so it goes. Tho moral portion of tho community to a groat extent who are never seen about saloons and would not bo found in them at all, pay too little attontion to tho violations of the laws governing the saloon business."

The age of this mammoth vegetable cannot be ascertained. Mr. Biddle having found it in tho snndy loam of a branch that passes through his farm. The turnip is petrified and is seemingly a perfect Btono but the outlino of overy fibre is distinctly represented. Each blade of the bushy top are as perfect as when trimmed for the market. Even the crack so often soon in overgrown vegetables of this class runs from top to root.—Waynetown Hornet.
