0H0LEBA TREATMENT. From tne variety of opinions among physicians regarding the symptoms of cholera, the treatment of it, etc., one is disposed to think that most of them know little or nothing about the disease. Clean premises and cleanliness of person have generally been urged and observation has generally shown that the disoase was generally first produced in those parts of a city whore most filth was to be found. A Cincinnati physician in speaking of the disease during the epidemic in that city in 1866, says: "I had a good deal of experience in handling it. I find from my notes that in "Bucktown," which was then as filthy a spot as you could find on the continent, not one single case of cholera occurred. That was while the epidemic was at its height and people were dying by hundreds in the crowded, but comparatively clean tenement houses up town. Not a single man of the gangs employed to clean the sewers was attacked by the disease. "I do not believe that filth encourages or cleanliness prevents cholera. Tho onty safe-guard is to keep clear of contagion. A good many medical authorities recognize this possibility. A French writer, whose name I forget, has asserted that cholera was actually lessened in great filth, owing to the destruction of the cholera microbes by the microbes of other diseases."

O'DONNKLL, the leader of the strike, was not one of the highest paid men, but he received 655 per week, and earnings of SG to $10 and S14 were "frequent. There are men at Homestead who received more wages in one week than tho entire force of the REVIEW includin, the salary of the editor.—Journal.
How do you know what wages are paid at Homestead any more than any other pop-in-jay. who may be ready to take rumors and seek to convert them into truths? It can safely be asserted that where one man at Homestead may receive $55 per week there are 1,000 in the same establishment who do not receive one-fifth that sum. The Journal should remember that mechanics in the United States receiving $55 per week number about 1 in 100,000. Any mechanic receiving such wages is rare, verv rare.

THE present apportionment law is to bo annulled if republican leaders can have it done. As tho Supreme Court is republican and its decision is final there is where they hope to be successful. It is a political partizan scheme throughout and is the main thing on which they rely this year for success. Were it any other than campaign year they would, as heretofore, pay no attention to it.
THE republican majority in Maine is smaller this year than that of four years ago. "As goes Maine BO goes the Union," is a proverb that republicans love to repeat, but from the reduced majority in that State this year, the prospects of the party 1OK slim for the "Union" going that way.
BETWEEK the drum corps and tin horn we fail to see any difference so far as first-class nuisances connected with a political campaign are concerned. Both should be abolished. A musically cul tivated ear will hear as much harmony in the tin as the parchment.
GOWDY, the chairman of the repub lican State committee announces that he has his campaign all blocked out. It is probably after the "blocks of five" structure and constructed after the plans of architect Dudley.

It is very easy to "don't" in this world. Suspicion* always comes more easily th&n confidence. But doubt— little faith—never made a sick woman well—and tho "Favorite Prescription" has cured thousands of delicate, weak women, which makes us think that our "Prescription" is better than your "don't believe." We're both honest. Let us come together. You try Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription. If it doesn't do as represented, you get your money again.

Tho popularity of "The Great Rock Island Route" as a Colorado line—it having long time since taken first place as the people's favorite between the Lakes and the mountains—has compelled tho management to increase its present splendid service by the addition of a train that is one night on tho road from Chicago to Denver, Colorado Springs or Pueblo. This tram will be known as the "Rocky Mountain Limited," and will be put in service May first. Leaves Chicago daily at 10:45 a. m., arriving 'at above cities in the afternoon of the next day, earlier than any of its competitors. Especial equipment has been built for this train, with tho view of making it a Limited in every sense of the word, and best of all, there will be no extra charge. The route of this exceedingly fast train is by tho Rock Island Short Line, and a few of the large cities through which it passes, are Davenport, Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Omaha, Lincoln, Beatrice, Fairbury, Belleville, Philipsburg, Smith Centre, Colby and Cloodland. This makes it a most desirablo route and particularly interesting to tho traveler. Another point: tho popularity of our dining-car service is still on* the increase, and no money spared to make this service what our patrons always say "the best."
Our "Big 5" will continue as usual, leaving Chicago at 10 p. m., and arriving at Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo the second morning, being but one day out, and this fast and popular train goes through Omaha.
Our No. 11 will leave as heretofore at 0 p. m., arrive at Kansas City at !):0Q a. in., and will reach Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo the second moaning.
