A. Beautiful View.
Just at this season of the year, it is doubtful if a more beautiful spot of ground can be found in the west than Oak Hill cemetery. The well cultivated lawns, tho many hundreds of llowers planted and blooming on all parts of the ground, the artistic work shown in large numbors of the monuments and tombstones, tho well graded drives, etc.. make this a truly enchanted spot. Visit Oak Hill soon before the frosts of fall come, if you desire to view a landscape of surpassing beauty.

Messrs. Dullam Bros.—I take great pleasure in testifying in behalf of Dullam's Great German Blood, liver stomach and kidney cure. I can safely say that I never took such medicine as that to cleanse the liver, stomach and kidneys. I was suffering for years with billiousness, indigestion, and loss of appetite and sleep. One bottle did for me more good than six months' other treatment, and I feel it my duty to testify in its behalf, so others may try it and get cured.-

FOUGHT TO THE DEATH.
PITTSBURGH, Pa., Aug., 8.—A most tragic and sensational event occurred at Noblestown, this county, Saturday afternoon. Martin Reed, who killed Alexander Chappel at the Washington county fair last fall by giving him poisoned whisky, and was afterward found guilty of murder, but broke jail, was cornered in a barn near Noblestown by Constable McWilliama, who has been chasing him for two weeks. Chief of Police Orr, Detective McBride, of Washington, and Hugh Coyle, of McDonald, came to the assistance of McWiUiams.
Murder nnd Suicide.
A battle ensued, in which McWilliams was wounded. Coyle volanteered to capture the desperate man. He walked to the door but as soon as he opened it be was shot dead by Reed. A big crowd gathered, they were frenzied with rage. Dynamite was placed under ihe barn and the end torn off. Still Reed refused to show himself and no one dared enter the building. Coal oil was then procured by the mob and poured on the barn, which was soon amass of ilames. As the fire reached the spot where Reed.'was concealed two pistol shots rang out and it was known the double murderer had killed himself. The crowd was frantic at being unable to lynch liim and his body was cremated in the burning barn.
Hla Crime.
Reed's body was recovered soon after-, ward burned to a crisp, but showing the bullet hole in his head.
The crime for which Reed was convicted and sentenced to hang was the murder of Alexander Chappel. Chappel's wife was a most attractive woman, and Reed, falling in love with her, planned and executed the crime in order to marry her. He gave his victim poisoned whisky to drink.

The test made of the case of Fred Prime, one of the Pinkerton men on the barges, against whom informations were laid by Ilugh Ross, was almost a rout for the Homestead people. The ruling of Judge Ewing shows that Attorney-s lirennan and Cox cannot expect to hold the Pinkertons.

La Salle avenue, Saturday. He has been identified with the business and intellectual interests of Chicago for many years and has left his mark in the world of thought. [OoL Bundy was born February 19, 1841, at St. Charles, 111., and was justly entlUed to be alassed among the old settlers. Ho served with distinction through the war of the rebellion. At its conclusion Col. Bundp married Miss Mary E. Jones, of St. Charles, 111., daughter of S. S. Jones, then proprietor of the Hollgio-Phllosophioal Journal, with which paper the oolor.el has been since identified. Mr. Jones was founder of the paper a quarter of a century ago, and at his death Col. Bundy bocame proprietor and assumed oontrol. Be became widely known through his writings in his puper. He has been strong exponent of the phenom«ua, philosophy and ethics of spiritualism, and made his paper unseotarian, independent and wholly free from partisan cliques. Committed to the scientific method in the treatment of psychical phenomena he has naturally had tho conlldence of rational people, both among spiritualists and opponents to that theory. Mr. Gundy has always been noted for his fearless and persistent exposure of the frauds practiced in the name of spirit/ ualism. His paper was feared and hated by the great mass of professional mediums, who practice fraud and impose upon the credulous under the guise of spiritualistic inspiration. The last two or three years he has been partially a representative of the English society for psychical research.
