The Big Four will On July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, sell excursion tickets to local points within a radious of 200 miles at one lowest first class fare for the round trip, good going date sold and returning until and including July 5th.
Grant Agnew and T. D. Brown have formed a partnership in the law business. Yesterday they submitted a proposition to Judge Harney in which they agree to defend criminals in State cases for half price. The Judge has the matter under consideration.
A farmer by the name of Armstrong, was killed by lightning at his home near Colfax during a storm yesterday afternoon. He had taken shelter under a tree in the field whore he

and was found dead in the fence corner after the storm. The festive burglar was out again last Wednesday night. This time he effected an entrance into the ice office of Martin & Son, on Green street, by prying open the side door with the aid of a crowbar, and extracting from the "till" all the money contained therein. $1.91. You need not be surprised to hear of this same fellow tryining tn rob a printing office next.

Josiah N. Foster has been appointed administrator of the estate of John W. Smalley deceased.
Abraham A. Vail has been appointed administrator with will annexed, of the estate of James Vail, deceased.
The new fast trains on the Vandalia pass through this city as follows: North, 2:30 p. m. south, 8:11 p. m. "Hub" Harney special agent in the township for Clark And Scott for Brush's Grip Cure, was in the city Thursday.
Gus Bappert has been awarded the contract for the galvanized iron and tin works for the Central School Building. Consideration, $2,186.50.
The Vandalia is graveling the Logan division of their road. The entire line from Terre Haute to St. Joe is to be greatly improved this summer.
The subject of admitting ladies to Wabash was not even discussed by the trustees at their meeting this week. It iooks as though all hope was gone on that score.
The Vandalia will resume its Sunday lake special again to-morrow and continue through the summer. The train will pass through here at 6:34 a. m., returning about 3 o'clock p. m.
W. H. Brown, of Cayuga, was in the city Monday conferring with J. L. Shrum in regard to his slice of the Edwards big estate. Mr. Brown is a direct descendant of Robert Edwards.
Miss Blanch Trevey, Rockville's sweet singer and well known in this county, was seriously injured in a runaway near her homo last Monday. Her injuries while painful were not fatal.
Last Wednesday Judge Harney appointed the following city commissioners to serve the ensuing year. James Wright, M. V. B. Smith, Milton Williams, Thomas Stihvell and D. W. Veagley.
Prof. J. B. Evans, who has had charge of the Wave! and schools, for the past four years, has resigned his position to accept a similar one in the Rising Sun schools, which has a salary.of 51,000 per year attached to it.
A big Masonic picnic will bo held at Hillsboro on Friday, Juno 24. Gov. Ira J. Cbase will bo present and address the peoplo. fe Special rates have been secured over the Big Four from all points between New Ross and Covington. "Nig" Seering will spend thirty-seven of his summer vacation days in Sheriff Bible's delightful seaside resort on north ^Washington street. "Nig's" Chesterfield stride and Apollo form will bo greatly missed at Long Branch in consequence.
R«v. Jackman, of Crawfordsvilie, spent the night with friends near the city, returning home this morning. The Rev. is quite an expert on the wheel, using that method of locomotion to reach many of his various appointments.— Frankfort Crescent.
In the case of Wilhoit vs. Henry D. Vancieave this week Judge Harney decided that Wilhoit pay off a $350 mort gage on the farm of Mrs. Wilhoit after which Vancieave should pay over to Wilhoit SI,800 that was left to Wilhoit's children by their grandmother, Mrs. Jacob Davis.
Annie Creque, whose husband was killed in a fight at Champaign, 111., last fall, was fined 810 in the Mayor's court Wednesday morning Tor drunkenness and disorderly conduct. She is sweating out the fine ,in one of those delightful cells in the woman's department at the jail.
Mrs. Belle Delashmit who acquired no little amount of notoriety in the case of the State of Indiana vs. Joe Devaney, appeared before Judge Harney Wednesday and asked that the conunbial knot whitch bound her to William Delashmit bo cut in twain. The Judge grabbed hiB judicial ax and complied with the fair Belle's request.

Harvey, the three-year-old son of John Hunter, fell into a cistern at the family home on west Wabash avenue last Monday morning. His screams quickly brought the neighbors to the scene and the little fellow was fished out more dead than alive.
Capt. W. P. Herron was at Indianapolis Monday to attend a meeting of the monument committee of Wilder's Brigade which has charge of the erection of a shaft on the Chickamauga battle field. The one selected is 110 feet high, has a squaro base, and will have ah inside spiral stairway. Its cost will be 825,000
A sensational rumor was current on the streets Monday to the effect that A. F. Ramsey had been drowned in a lake near Minneapolis. The rumor grow out of a report, of the sinking of a steamboat, in a Wisconsin lake, a groat many miles from where Mr. Ramsey was sojourning. Crawfordsvilie cannot afford to lose such a citizen as A. F. Ramsey.

Three generations joined in celebrat--ing the ninety-fourth birthday anniversary of Mrs. Nancy M. Hamilton, tho venerable relict of the late Samuel R. Hamilton, of Green townsHip, Park© county. Nearly two hundred relatives and friends were in attendance, and short addresses were made by Rev. SM. Hays, of Russellville James Spencer,. Sr., and others. Samuel R. Hamilton and his bride settled on the farm in 1825, which, to the present time has, continued to be tho homestead. He died in 1883.
