Tho Lafayette Journal haB the following concerning Ed Corey's fight in that city last Friday night: "The announcement that tho two Eds—Corey and White—would spar six rounds at Wise's theater Friday night was sufficient incentive to pack the house from the orchestra rail to standing room in the gallerj. The preparations were true to squared circle etiquette, the stage being properly roped for the contest. Dannie Sullivan, of CrawfordBville, was referee and he carried out his assignment splendidly. Tuck Cox and Manager Hill held tho time pieces. Five ounce gloveB were used. The first round was uneventful, White, however, accepting a chance to land heavily, for which he was applauded. In the second round Corey gently dropped White on the stage for a knockdown cleverly executed. The following rounds were more spirited and some clever and warm exchanges were made made, a few clinches varying the passing of blows. Corey was declared the winner at the conclusion of the sixth event, winning on the greater number of leadB and knockdowns. White made a valedictory in which he declared Corey to be the greatest man he ever met. Corey has evidently been taking good care of himself. He is remarkably agile and strikes a heavy blow
In hight and reach the men are on a par, but Cory is much heavier than White, Howard Dickerson, of Crawfordsville, the clever colored trainer, seconded Cory admirably and won hosts of friends and admirers.

Tho above name theatrical company which acquired much notoriety in this locality from the wrock on the Monon oil the 11th of January, in which it was unfortunately mixed up to a great extreme passed through here on Sunday morning early en route from Chicago to Louisville. There were about twenty, members of tho old company aboard the train and their question were many regarding various persons and things connected with the disaster, many of them desiring to know in particular if Madam Van Rokey's relatives had received anything from the Company for the death of this woman. A strange coindence of this trip was that the company embarked on the identical car at Chicago, No. 51, that had gone down in the wreck and in which Madam Von Rokey was killed, but which was aftorwards taken to the shop and repaired. A number of the company'were not aware of this until informed of the fact at the Junction, when, superstitious like, they at once vacated it and the remainder of the journey to Louisville occupied another car.
Pettit's Brief.
The attornovs for W. F. Pettit are still hammering away upon their Supreme Court brief. Prom all reports, it is likely to be the most formidable document that has gone into the hands of tue court for years. The case lasted many weeks, and to boil down and dig out the points of interest requires research and dilligence. The volume will bo ponderous, and in order to mako the work as light and easy upon the court the defense, in making their argumont upon tho evidence, have stated their point, and supported it with the testimony itself, (also referring to it by page and line) so that the labor of gathering up volume after volume and referring time and again to ^ho evidence in detail will be lessened. The Court will have the whole thing right before him. thus saving much time.—Lafayette Leader.

Chicago Southeastern to be as badly in the toils as
the
old Midland: "The
Chicago & Southaestern road, formerly the old Indiana Midland, is again in a helpless condition. Since a collision on the road a week ago, in which one engine was smashed to pieces, the company has only had two engines at work. This morning Sheriff Etchison tied up one of them in the yards here and would have fastened the other, had it not boon that it pulled the train that carries the mail. The sheriff has in his possession executions amounting to upward of $1,000 and is proposing to collect them novr if the the company has enough property that can be levied upon to make the sum. There is but one train running on the road to-day."

TWO GB.AND TRAINS DAILY BETWEEN THE WORLD'S FAIR 0ITT AND THE FOOTHILLS.
One Night Out or One Day Out. Take Your Choice, lluftlnesa Demands It, and the People Munt have It.
The popularity of "The Great Rock Island Route" as a Colorado line—it having long time, since taken first place as the people's favorite between the Lakes and the mountains—has compelled the management to increase its present splendid service by tho addition of a train that is one night on the road from Chicago to Denver, Colorado Springs or Pueblo. This train will be known as the "Rocky Mountain Limited," and will be put in service May first. Leaves Chicago daily at 10:45 a. m., arriving at above cities in the afternoon of the next day, earlier than any of its competitors. Especial equipment has been built for this train, with the view of making it a Limited in every sense of the word, and best of all, there will be no extra charge. The route of this exceedingly fast train is by the Rock Island Short Line, and a few of the large cities through which it passes, are Davenport, Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Omaha, Lincoln, Beatrice, Fairbury, Belleville, Philipsburg, Smith Centre, Colby and Goodland. This makes it a most desirable route and particularly interesting to tho travel er. Another point: the popularity of our dining-car service is still on the increase, and no money spared to make this service what our patrons always say "the best."
Our "Big 5" will continue as usual leaving Chicago at 10 p. m., and arriving at Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo the second morning, being but one day out. and

"1 Am So Tired,"
Is a common exclamation at this season. There is a certain bracing effect in cold air which is lost when the weather grows warmer and when Naturo is renewing her youth, her admirers feol dull, sluggish and tired. This "condition is owing mainly to the impure condition of the blood, and its failure to supply healthy tissue to tho various organs of the body. It is1"remarkable how susceptible the system is to the help to be derived from a good medicine at this season. Possessing just those purifying, building-up qualities which the body craves, Hood's Sarsapa rilla soon overcomes that tired feeling restores the appetite, purifies the blood, and, in short, imparts vigorous health. Its thousands of friends as with one voice declare "It Makes the Weak Strong."

By the Veteran Journalist, Col. A. McClure, LL. D., Editor in chief of Tho Philadelphia Times."
Col. McClure needs no introduction to the public. He is well and widelyknown as a forceful and perspicious writer, as a close and segacious student of men and events, as a writer of exper iences. extraordinary alike in scope and interest.
Of the many books that have been published relating to Abraham Lin coin and his administration, this
the most interesting and valu
