Judge John Bunch died athishomein Henderson, Ky., last Saturday morning at the age of 73 years. Judge Bunch was a resident of' this city for many years and was well known among our old citizens.
Some fifty members of the Eastern Star went down to Waveland Friday and partook of the bountiful luxuries prepared by the Eastern Star at that place. It was a merry crowd and they report an excellent time,.

A man near New Ross, while drunk, purchased a monkey from an Italian. He attempted to take it home with him when the animal objected and gave the man a whipping.- The monkey is now at large in a neighboring forest.—Darlington Echo.
There was quite an interesting skirmish among the petit jurors Monday morning. Nearly all of them wanted to be excused on account of wanting to get in their corn crop, Messrs. Rico and Curtis were successful in getting oil' but tho other ten will have to sweat it out.
Mr. Hanna of Montgomery county, which one of tho numerous persons by that name we do not know, was a candidate for Congress before the Prohib's party of this district for Congress last week, but got left, a Mr. Shields securing the distinguished honor. That's what's tho matter with Hanna.
The Chicago & Southeastern road is in a bad way again. The pay car has failed to. come around, and the section men all along the line have quit work! Only one train each way per day—tho mail train—runs now. An engine was sold at constable's sale in Lebanon Saturday, for ?'200, to satisfy a judgement against the road.—Waveland Independent.
Jim Kelley was an'ested and locked up last Saturday for drunkenness. Some one handed him a chisel through the grating and he had almost dug through the brick wall of tho building, when some friend broke the lock on the outside and Kelley escaped. The young man who handed him tho chisel is known to the oflicc-rs. Ho and Kelley are both gone, but will be arrested if found here again.—Ladoga Leader.

Master James Berryman celebrated his fourth anniversary by entertaining a number of his little friends at the home of his father, R. P. A. Berryman, ou West Pike street, last Saturday afternoon, from 3 to 7 p. m.
Dr. W. H. Taylor, editor of the People's Journal, of Anderson, a brother of Dr. John Taylor, of this city, is preparing to bring suit to set aside the recent city election, for the reason that the people's party had no representation upon the election boards, either as inspectors, judges or clerks. It was Dr. Taylor who originated the bill authorizing Congress to loan $4,000,000 to Indiana farmers.
Some time ago the trustees of the United Brethren church at Brazil circulated a subscription to purchase a new suit of clothes for Rev. Mr. Stumph. Among the flock who signed his name for $2 was Charles Davenport, but when the trustees attempted to collect Mr. Davenport claimed that his name had been forged to the subscription list, and he refused to pay. Tho trustees thereupon brought suit, and last night'Squire Torbet rendered judgement for the amount at issue. The trustees will bring suit against Davenport for slander.
Albert Henderson, of Lafayette, is dead. He was a native of Indiana, his birth occurring in Connersville in 1810. He moved to Covington in early manhood, and settled at Lafayette in 1864. For many years ho served as trustee of Franklin College and he was also conspicuous in the management of the home for aged Baptist ministers at Fenton, Michigan. Mr. Henderson was an earnest Christian, and his life was devoted to his family, his church and the State. Included among the children is Rev. Dr. Charles R. Henderson, formerly stationed at Terre Haute, and now pastor of the Woodward avenue Baptist church of Detroit, Michigan, also Mrs. John L. Griffiths, of Indianapolis.
