COUNTY SCHOOL NOTES.
Parents visit your schools. Union township institute to-day. Trustoes should attend township institutes.
Does teaching disqualify a man foractual business? Have we any school keepers in Montgomery county?
Tho best teachers do not always please the patrons best. Pupils aro beginniug to train for tho county contest in the spring.
Judge W. D. Jones is still at work in the interest of tho school journal.
O. B. Ilultz was over from Jamestown to attend the association last week. All pupils who aro strong enough should graduate from the public schools.
Coal Creek township has a teacher who travels over the railroads on a child's ticket.
I* rank O. Fraley, of Madison township^ is teaching a tine school in the State of' Nebraska.
If an education consists of a generation of power it should certainly be of the right kind. 'Ihe city schools have been resumed after being dismissed two weeks on account of diphtheria.
Parents should not abuse their chilchilclren by keeping them out of school, because they become offended at the teacher.
R. M. Manners, of Clark township, attended tho teachers', association last week He stated that the flag still floated over No. 0.
The entertainment of the Wingate schools on the occasion of the collection for tho benefit of Indiana's educational exhibit at the world's fair was a grand success.
The farmers' alliance is in favor of reducing the salary of the school teacher. Any class of people who draw $210 a year and only leave ffl.50 for board will have $90 to spend in extravagance, reading circle books, school journals, teachers' associations, and some have been known to spend whole week at the county seat reveling in the pleasures of a teachers' institute, and others who decide not to make a tour to Europe have spent as much as eight or ten weeks at a normal school.
The following is the programme of the next teachers' institute to be held at Wingate Saturday, Dec. 1*2, 1891:
Right Views of Education, E. M. Morrow. Discussion by Albert Wilson. Right Modes of Education, Charles Johnson. Discussion by A.W.'Dazey.
Concluding Recitations, John Murphy. Discussion by William Utterbaek Citizenship, Fred Kincaid. Discussion by W. J. Cord.
Literature, Lizzie Vaughn*. Discussion by Phillip Hawk. Reading, Eva McCallum. Discussion by Walter Vaughn.
Language, Efile Alexander. Recitation, May Donovan. The following amounts were collected for tho educational exhibit of Indiana at the world's fair by the following teachers: Eva McCullutn
