The coal miners' strike in Clay county remains unbroken and the prospects for a final settlement of the difliculties between the operators and miners are not are very flattering.

The central building of the public schools, continued closed this week, the trustees deciding it unsafe to reopen so soon after tha diptheivia patient had been removed. The building was thoroughly fumigated this week, and the old bell will peal fourth its usual tones next Monday morning.

The two-weeks-old son of George Powers anil wife, of this city, displays a very peculiar freak in nature. The baby lias six'well formed toes on each foot, anil the' feet are not in the least otherwise deformed. Physicians say there are several similar cases in this county, although the deformity usually occurs on but one of the feet instead of both.
