law YO»K, NOT. 34.—Monday's storm WHS one of the most disastrous in ite ofloeta mild far-reaching in tho aaea of it* sweep of any known to this country ior years. Already from numerous point* come reports of damage, dtMtroctioo and donth, and when a cessation vl the warring elements pepmite of a restoration of teltigraphic comHiu»ie*tion with points at pre»ent inaaoeuibla by prostration of wires, the •xteat to which the seemingly wild ruinori will be borne out by actual foots is wholly conjectural. jit Pittubnrirh. 'j

PiTTMiiUitAa, fa., Nov. 24.—From all parta of Pittsburgh and Allegheny come r*ports of damage by the storm. HOUIN were blown down or unroofed, trees snappod off short, signs broken from their fastenings and telegraph polos torn up aud wires broken.

In tho west end Grimm's new three story hotel, not yet finished, was blown down, crushing a small dwelling adjoining it. The occupants all escaped but Mrs. Peebles, who was preparing dinner in the kitchen.. She was buriod in the ruins and probably fatally injured. In Allegheny several electric light towers were blown down, and in the oast end trees along Sheridan and Collins avenues and Broad stroet ware uprooted.

Along the Knilroails.

Gvoat damage is reported along the liko of the Baltimore Ohio railroad went ©f Connellsville. Trees and outh#uM» are reported to have been blown down. The ooal tipple at Alpsrille is almost a complete wreck. At Now Brighton, Pa., on the Erie & Pittsburgh railroad, a largo tree was blown down at the intersection of Main and Harmony streets, when) the telephone wire* cross the trolley wire of the Beaver Valley Traction Company. The tree fell upon the telephone wires and forced Ih^m down en the electric wire, which was carrying 500 volts. The results were startling.

Tho residence of W. 11. Everson, E. P. Townsend and Harry liarker, looated in different sections of tho town, were set on fire by telephone wires, but the flames wore extinguishod.

At Butler, l'».

At Butler the frame store "buildings of W. Gohiug, wholesale commission merchant L. Arras, harness dealer, and Mrs. Fay's boarding house were blown down and completely demolished. The occupants were buried in the ruins, but Joseph Manny, Jr., was the only one injured. The ruins took fire, but were quickly extin guished.

Ill the Oil Fields.

The storm had a rather disastrous effect upon the derricks in the oil fields. Old as well as new derricks were blown down, and nearly all the districts within 50 miles of Pittsburgh suffered to a greater or less extent froin the storm. In all but a very few instances no part of the rig except the derricks was destroyed. Between Oakdale and Noblestown twelve derricks were blown down, and reports from the McCurdy, Moon. Washington, Butler, Greene and other oil districts are to the effect that they all suffered. The losses to the oil men are roughly estimated at $'25,000.

Wire* Are Down.

At midnight a high wind still prevailed and it was alternately raining and snowing. Communication by telegraph was still cut off from the. east All the wires of the Western Union and Postal companies are prostrated between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington and New York. The same condition of affairs prevails north, while west and south the wires are working but very poorly.
