The Crawfordsville Natural (las company struck their tiast gas at Sheridan last Friday afternoon. Wabash vs. Purdue.

After the game of foot ball here on Saturday the Wabash club looked like they did not know which one of the boys they were. They were not in it at all, ami readily showed that playing the modern game of foot ball was not their forte. It seemed like a contest: between delicate town dudes and 200 pound clod mashers and lunch punishers from the wilds of Tippecanoe county. At best it is a brutal appearing game, next door to prize lighting, and if the Wabash club had only slipped in as p'avers our Ed. Corey, "Chuckev" Fell and two or three others about town the result would have been, no doubt, different. The club here should eschew foot ball at once, and strife to secure the "[tenant" in the game of munibly peg. hat ball, or something less hazardous.

The Purdue club was very demonstrative after its victory, if such it could be called, the members making themselves nuisances by stopping in front of business houses and yelling at persons transacting business therein. It may be that the institution they attend omits civility and ordinary politeness in its curriculum. and their want of it should be excused.

Work on the Midland.

Work on the Midland is progressing finely. A Times reporter passed over a part of the new Hrazil extension this morning. This side of Sundown, about two and three-quarters miles from the city we found about twenty teams at work on the grade. The company is unloading ties and rails at mine No. 7 near Carbon, and wo hear that they began laying rails this way from Carbon to-day. The grading is beginning to near an end. All this work is done from Sand Creek to the Little Raccoon river, four miles north of Bridgeton From Bridgeton to Carbon the Midland is to pass over the track laid by the Ft. Wayne, Terro Haute & Southwestern railroad company. The grading between Little Racoon and Bridgeton, a distance of about four miles, cannot be completed until tho bridges are finished.—Brazil Times.
