'Tadie's Troubles.
Tadie Ring is boarding with Sheriff Bible. Thin morally depraved mortal has now tinisheil paving his way to the penitentiary doors, and his prospects are, fair for a short term, at least. Last Sunday morning Bill Newell, Ring, and a few more of the elite of "Growlers' Alley," wore assembled on that beautiful thoroughfare engaged in the highly elevating pastime of rushing the can. It seems that Newell was furnishing the money, but finally grew weary and entered a protest. To this tho illustrious Tadie took exceptions, and like Speaker Reed made a minority rule of his own and enforced it by throwing Newell to the ground and taking his money from him. Officer Brothers was notified but failed to locate his victim until late in the evening, when he found him promenading with a "chippy" in the north end. At the sight of the officer, Ring started to run. but a shot from that worthy's revolver brought him to a standstill, and Tadie was locked up without further trouble. Now, get rid of the young vagabond by giving him a few years on the lakeside.

Becoming dissatisfied with the country there, he rented his propert, and returned here Wednesday morning, her received a telegram from Sutnmertown. stating that on Friday night his house had been blown up by dynamite and totally destroyed. It was the work of fiends who sought to revenge themselves on the occupants, who miraculously escaped \viih their lives, although they were terrible shaken up. fletcher Appeals.
Last Saturday the application of Foster Fletcher to sell intoxicating liquors at New Market was brought before the county commissioners. The citizens of the little village appeared in force and presented a remonstrance signed by lf0 names, and placed their side of the case in the hands of A. Ii. Anderson, while Hurley A- Clodfelter looked after the interests of Fletcher. A great deal of evidence was heard and the case hotly contested but terminated in the commissioner's refusing the license. Fletch er at once appealed the case to the circuit court, where lie thinks tie will evperienci' little trouble in securing the much coveted license.

J0HN AND L0RENA.
Mysterious Disappearance of John Deway and Lorena Ferguson. SUSS Lorena Ferguson is the tifteen-year-old daughter of Mat Ferguson and wife, who live in the north-west part of town. John Dewey is a bachelor forty years of age, and lives neighbors to tho Fergusons. It is strange yrt true, that there sprung up a mutual friendship be tween John and the fair Lorena which in a short time ripened into full blown love. Owing to the extremo difference in the ages of the love-sick twain, pa and ma Ferguson made a vigorous kick when old man Dewey broached the subject of marriage. Lorena swore to her parents that she loved John with an ardor worthy of a better cause and in consequence life to her would be a barren waste without her John. The pleadings of the two had the desired etrect. Mat and his wife relented, and the wedding day was set for Tuesday, Sept. 22. Last Tuesday night, for some strange and unaccountable reason, while Mat and his wife were asleep, Lorena stole out into the silent night. By pre-arrangement she met her gay old lover and the two skipped out. But where, no one knows. Arising Tuesday morning Mat sought his daughter's chamber and was horrified to find it empty. With angry fears chasing each other through his brain, he Bought the home of Dewey when his suspicions were confirmed by learning that John too had disappeared in tho wea sum' hours of the night. His first thought was that the couple had gone to Danville, 111., the Mecca for runaway lovers. He at once telegraphed the clerk there not to grant the license, but if was unnecessary as they never applied for them. It afterwards developed that they did not leave the city by rail but skipped in a buggy, but all search so fathas fitiled to locate them. The girl's parents are very much worried, fearing Dewey has bad intentions and the suspense isterrible.

Sudden Death of Mrs. J. J. Insley. The sudden death of Mrs. J. J. Insley Thursday morning was ono of the saddest that ever occurred in the city. Up on arising in tho morning Mrs. Insley appeared in her usual good health. About 6:30 o'clock she was standing in the kitchen talking to some neighbors when she suddenly reeled and fell heavily to the floor. In a moment convulsions followed and in this condition she remained until 9 o'clock when death relieved her. The cause of her death was the bursting of a blood vessel in tho brain. Owing to the dangerous illness of Mr. Insley he has not yet been appris edof his wife's death, and it is probable her remains will be placed in a vault until his recovery.
Eveline Richardson Insley was born in this city,4'2 years ago and was the daughter of Zepahniah Richardson. She was married to Mr. Insley in 1872 and was a noble and loving wife. She was a devout member of the M. E. church and distinguished for her many charitable and christian acts.
