The Louisville, New Albany .fc Chicago is now ruuniug a regular live stock train nightly between Louisville and Chicago, it being scheduled on thirteen hours between the two points. There are yet some 100,000 head of cattle to be shipped to the markets from points on the Louisviile Southern road and its immediatejconnections, which are contracted to be shipped over the Monon.—Lafayette Courier.
Doc Kissinger honowed a team of horses from two of rur fanner citizens and secured harness and a wagon somewhere, employed Charley Gisli to engiuer the outfit iu hauling brick. Last Monday, when the load was about half on, the horses became frightened and ran away. Charley fell out in front of the wagon and was severely hurt. The Peru band is being reorgauized, and the suberb talent which made this organization such auoted one a few years ago being re-em-ployed. The band will enter the contest-toui-uameut at Crawfordsville iu July.
The grocerymeu are takiug up entirely too much room ou the sidewalks of the city,at least most of them are, aud should be interviewed by the proper authorities. Three feet space is ample for the display of goods, and they should be allowed no more.
Judge Bruce Spillman,.residing at Manbat. a n, a a a a iv a was visiting friends hero this week aud last, after as absence or twelve years fioni his native heath. Mr. Spillman has a circuit of three counties in that state over which he presides as Judge, the salary being the same as paid iu this circuit.

d. a St. John's Episcopalian church. All of Keokuk's gen. scuoKiKi.n. exclusive society was present to witness the ceremony. A few friends of the family from Chicago nnd elsewhere also attended, but in the muiD the audience was made up of residents of Keokuk. At 11:30 o'clock the doors of St. John's Epise. pal church were thrown open and soon the pretty granite edifice was filled in every part by the 1 a rye number of guests who had been invited to witness the ceremony. The. following- gentlemen acted as ushers: Wells Kilbourne. of Cleveland. brother of the bride: Pay id Buell. of Keokuk. cousin of the bride: Howard Klliott. of St,. Louis, C. II. FyfVe and William Fyft'e, of Chicago, and .1. II. Sturgis, ot Boston. About* the same lime that tlio church was opened Con. Schofield and his party left, the Hotel Keokuk and were driven in carriages to the Kilbourne residence, where they were met by the bride and her party: then proceeding directly to the church.

After the ceremony the entire party were driven to the Kilbourne. residence. where between the hours of 1*2:30 and *2:30 the wedding- reception was g-iven to the friends of the family, verbally invited. No in vitntions were issued to parties residing out of the city. The house was filled with a profusion of the choicest cut Mowers am! potted plants. General and .Mrs. Schofield received the congra'. illation^ of friends who thronged the spacious house. Refreshments were served by Weber, of Chicago. General and Mrs. Schofield left in the evening1 on a special train for Hurlington, where llie general's special car will be Ittaehed to the fast train for the west. •Jhey will go direct to San Francisco, and from there up the Pacific coast, probably to I'uget sound, anil will be g'Jnc l'or some, weeks. In all probability General Schofield and wife will make :i short stay in Keokuk after their return from the west anfl before proceeding to Washington, where they will make their home at Gen. Scliofield's residence, 1'224 Connecticut avenue.
No announcement was made of the presents received by the bride, bnl it was stated on good authority that ihat of the groom to the bride was gilt-edged security of a considerable amount. The gifts of the family of the bride were aaid to be of money. Other presents received were of a costly character and they were many and beautiful.
Telegrams of congratulation hav® been pouring in upon Gen. and Mrs. Schofield all day. None, however, were given to the press, but it is said that messages were received from the president and cabinet officers, distinguished military men, and from many prominent in the civil affairs of the country. [Gen. Kchoileld was born in Chautauqua county, N. Y„ September 'J9, 1831.
